Help! FT Explorer Sport Wing Center of Gravity

Hello. I was hoping i could get some help finding where the CG on the sport wing of the Explorer should be. There are CG marks on the bottom of the wing but it took a 3S 3400mah battery all the way in the front to get that CG. In the attached picture, I put a green mark on the wing where the CG was when i moved the 3S 3400mah battery back an inch. The red mark is where CG was with a 3S 2200mah battery all the way up to the nose. It flew and glided nicely at the red mark but the elevator was a bit sensitive. The official CG markings made it fly okay too but i needed tons of up elevator to fly level. The green CG mark seemed to be a decent middle ground but still needed some up elevator.

Is anyone able to share where they have their CG on the Explorer sport wing? For reference, i am flying with power pack C. Thank you!

It looks like you've found the range of flyable CGs with the red starting to be tail heavy and the green being nose heavy. Now experiment and see where you like it.

The CG at the red mark is WAY too tall heavy. The official CG mark looks about right to me. I'd keep it there until you are comfortable with the plane. Then move it aft if you want.

CG is more about stability than anything. Move the CG aft, the plane becomes more unstable. Move the CG forward, it becomes more stable. I agree with Mr NCT, move the CG until the plane flies the way you want it to.

Remember a nose heavy plane flys poorly BUT a tail heavy plane flys only once.

I flew it at all those CGs. I was just surprised how big of a battery i needed for the official CG markings. It actually flew really nicely tail heavy but there was also 0 wind. I think maybe just a tiny bit behind the official CG is my sweet spot.

Much of this comes from the build a little extra glue here extra bracing here any where in the tail section does not take much. When building always keep thinking of keeping it light and saving weight.

Rather than use a big battery. I've had several planes where I cut the nose off and added an extension to make it longer, then put the nose back on.
