Update (Sept 6):
Reborn again, now with silly tricks! I LOVE THIS PLANE!

Update (Aug 30):
So I built essentially another Guinea Pig this time I used Depron foam which is much much lighter than the foam board we got here, and for the wings I used 3mm foam board (instead of 5mm).
I used less glue on the whole build and carbon fiber reinforcement on the main wing.
The resulting plane was almost half the weight of my the original one.
I also upgraded the motors with the Turnigy D2826/8 1100kv and 9x6 props
Went out to fly it and in my maiden, the OrangeRX receiver failed on me, lost the signal and the poor thing went straight to the ground, nose first :/
At least I got some nice flight footage with the 2 mobius cams I put on it.

Original Post:
Hi guys, I recently got into the hobby and I didn't waste any time after learning to fly, to build my own plane!

So after having pretty much watched ALL of the FT videos (you guys are awesome!) decided to build the Guinea Pig.
I loved the cargo plane idea and loved the design that Peter made.

Since the shipping costs from the US to Greece are a bit too high for the kit, I had to scratch build it, problem is, I could not find 4mm width foam board here in my city, the standard sizes here are 3mm, 5mm and 10mm, so I went with the 5mm because the 3mm seemed too thin.

Those foam boards though use a much thicker and heavier paper coating (light doesn't pass through it), so the result is an overall heavier plane, 1750 grams. However this foam makes it a lot stronger and sturdy and it flys good nevertheless

Setup:
Turnigy D2826/10 1400kv motors with Turnigy Plush 40amp ESCs - 8x4 props
Used a 3s 2200mah 25c battery which lasts about 5 minutes
I fly it with OrangeRx R615X receiver and Spektrum DX6 transmitter.

I intend to get new motors for it, a bit more power and a bigger battery

Here's my maiden flight, there are Greek people talking in the vid sry about that :p

Since then I have painted it, hope you like it!

i had the same set up with a 5000mah battery, one of my motors burn up and the other is close. i believe the recomended prop is a 7x4.
just letting you know my experience.

The first one with those 1400kv motors where ok with the 8x4 props, the second one which I crashed had slightly upgraded motors the 2836/8 1100kv, I put 9x6 props on it, it has a lot of power with those props but yeah the motors overheat a bit when on full throttle for a long time, if I fly it with 50% - 75% throttle they are fine.
But yeah those OrangeRx receivers are not to be trusted, the probability of getting a faulty one and crash your plane is quite high from what I hear.
But can't complain, you get what you pay for :p
