Ft Racer Corona build.

Hey everyone, I finished my ft racer today, unfortunately can't maiden it due to the New England wind. I'm second guessing myself now whether the power setup I have will be sufficient. I put in a 2212 1400kv with a 30 amp and an 8x6 prop. It's maxing 160w, will that be enough? I also have 9x5 and 10x6 props on the way as a back up.

Nice clean build, the Racer is a sweet flyer. Like its on rails if the speed is up. As far as the motor you chose i would use the 9x5 on 3s, the 8x6 on 4s. Also depends on whether the ESC could handle 4s

Good looking build. (y) The 8x6 should fly it. What prop is recommended for your motor? If you can go bigger, I would, since the fuse on the racer is pretty wide.

Thanks bud, the 8x6 is what's recommended, I hooked my watt meter up and with the 8x6 running a 3s it pulled 160w max and around 15/16 amps. Once I get the 9 by 5s in I'm going to meter it again with the hope that it'll have an amp draw under my 30a esc. Fingers crossed! I should have mentioned it in the original post but this is my first scratch build.

Thanks a lot man, I've done some run ups with the 8by6 on 3s but I'm new to all this and I couldnt tell if it was strong enough, I know they say 100w/ lbs. And that the plane is 1.1lbs on paper but I suspect mine is a little heavier so the 160w it pulled might still be under powered. It's my first non trainer so I'm okay with it not being a speed demon but I don't want it to be a dog either.

great looking build.

kinda need an AUW? how much does it weigh fully loaded? without this it's all kinda guessing.

i fly my Racer on a 2115/10 emax (old c-pack) with a 9x4.5 prop, 40A esc, 4S-1000 w/ an AUW of 697g.

it is not fast, and really not my favorite flyer. looks good though.

good luck,

me

So an unexpected sudden landing...?
Haha actually yes, I took it out behind my house in a small field to just get some quick launch and lands and when I tossed it, it torque rolled to the left which I tried to account for with right aileron which caused it to bank harder landing pretty hard on the nose and breaking the prop.... I'm a dunce... I messed up when I was checking aileron movement and had them backwards 😖. Thankfully nothing else was damaged. I'm going to wait for the bigger props to come in before trying it again.. I don't have a lot of faith in the 8by6

So you're into the RC trucks - cool! I am hoping to get the TRX-4 kit at some point. I've got an E-Revo 2.0 VXl and it's a beast!
Yup, they're what got me into the hobby years ago. I have a 2wd stampede with a brushless motor, the element Enduro (which I absolutely love, definitely get a crawler!) And a wpl c14 1/16 off banggood that I've heavily modded.

I'm really tempted to try it this morning though, no wind whatsoever

She did it guys! Flew a little too nose heavy but very controllable. I got the 10x6 props in today put one on and hooked up my watt meter.. 189 watts at 19.3 amps, was going to wait for the 9x5s but I think the 10s might be my go to. Who would have thought.
