FT Sea Duck with Iron-on film

Hi there,
Because I am new here, I don't know the best category for this entry, so to all admins, feel free to move the post, whereever it fits best

I was not satisfied at all with painting my Sea Duck, so I tried Iron-On film with first applying a special glue for depron and it worked fine. Iron temperatures up to 110 degrees Celsius weren't a problem at all. If You are moving the iron constantly, maybe 10-20 degrees more. I think this paper-coated foam is much more heat resistant than normal depron.

Specialy the edges of the cutted depron look much better, when covered with film.

Here are the results:

I have found that if useing ross or adams foam board. First spay with 3m 77 let sit about 10 min to tacky then iorn on the film. Better get film like econokote monokote is dooable but harder temp wise. Do test pieces and keep iron moving. My cessna 180 build sofar.

Nice work!

Just a word of warning if using the paper covered FB and applying the covering film. Eventually the paper might separate from the foam taking the covering with it. This does occur where I fly with heavy morning dew and fields covered with morning dew which the prop can pick up and spray through the internals of the plane if you are not careful.

To use the iron on film I remove the paper first. I do not use the water proof FB so perhaps others can speak about this!

Fantastic job and nice action pics!
