FT Simple Cub Build Progress

I just printed out FT Simple Cub plans. The specs say 38 inch wingspan. When I tape the pages together, it comes out to 28 inch. Am I missing something or is there a smaller version and I printed that out.

Or...is 38 a typo?

I suspect that your printer tried to fit the selected print job to the selected page size and added an extra page margin.

To get accurate printing try using the full size plan, (not tiled), and print from Acrobat using the tiled feature. The result is normally quite good.

Failing that and if I do not want to assemble the resultant jigsaw I take the full sized to the local printing centre and have it printed out full size!

Just what I do!

Have fun!

Well I noticed on the website there were two sized tiled prints. I printed the one with less pages which probably was for larger paper.....which also probably means I just printed myself an ultra micro version by accident.

Lol, oops! Do you have an A pack motor you could stick in there?

THAAAAAATS better! 38.5 inches (slightly bigger than spec because I went flat with no dihedral).

FT Simple Cub Build Progress: Got the main fuselage piece cut out. Also went ahead and threw a coat of paint on the wing. Yep. Have chosen the J3 Piper look for this one. Still have a lonnnnng way to go. I could go faster. But what fun would that be?

FT Simple Cub Build Progress: Made BIG progress this morning. Finished the fuselage. Test fitted the power pod. Threw a coat of paint on it. Then added the banding rods and test fitted the wing. Looks cloae to done but actually only about halfway there. Yes, my Quality Control Specialist is inspecting

FT Simple Cub Build Progress:

Well, it's basically done. I need to add landing gear and a few more spots of paint plus windshields but other than that, I can actually maiden it as a hand launcher if I wanted to (I don't). Got all the control surfaces/servos dialed in. (sub trim, travel adjustment etc.).

Nice looking Cub... I'm ordering mine this week and will also be doing the Yell'r. My son has built 2 now, first one didn't survive a water take-off... this foamboard is definitely not water proof. We also found a few ways to make it "tougher" that I'm going to employee on mine. So far the design of the landing gear slots is not tough enough, foamboard is breaking a part more with each landing/takeoff. Looking for some good ideas on tail gear. Otherwise it flies great and the build is really fun and easy... Curious what your experience will be.
