Got the 20x90 files someone posted here printed (Thanks by the way). now to tape it all together and start building this weekend. Only wish the posted re arranged file had a scale in it to make sure It printed right.

Glad they worked for you, I can add the scale no problem if it will be helpful.

I ran across this today looking for paint schemes for the storch. http://fi156storch.8m.net/Color%20schemes/

Excellent find!

I took my 11 year old son to the field today. I ran the trainer radio and he had his radio bound wirelessly to mine, and I gave him the rudder. I took a few steps back. There was no way I could carry on a conversation today. He ran the rudder as a very good friend of mine, who is a seasoned pilot, instructed him how to enter and exit turns. He was instructed on what a traffic pattern is and where to and not to fly.

The storch was floating along like it was a baloon filled with helium. He got so good with the rudder I descended as he lined up on the runway. He made three landings today and is hooked!

Well I see we will all have to wait til next week for more video on the STORCH...bummer! Was hoping they would roll that out to us all this week...
I have my 60% plans printed, just need some time to rework the fuselage for the material thickness and the foam will be flyin....
Cant wait to see other peoples Storch builds and maidens.......out!

Its rough when your waiting on a video you really want and they dont release it. It feels like I texted a girl I just met and Im keep checking my phone ever 30 min to see if I missed anything.

How true that statement is...lol Pretty sad life we humans lead...
But the TESTERS have spoken and we got our fix! Thx FT

A little disappointed as it seemed rushed, and the setup for various radios was done on high end transmitters, which I don't believe the average budget scratch builder owns. I think Ill throw my storch speed build in the pile of other unbuilt planes I have and wait for the community to gather some more info on them. It seems to be a bit more involved of a build then I had originally anticipated.

It's only involved if you make it that way. I saw Eric fly his at flite Fest with just the ailerons, rudder and elevator. Can not get any simpler for a 4 channel. Everything in the supplemental video is just extras. The hardest part of the build is the body since it is in two parts. The landing gear isn't hard. Just more bends. You could also get premade gear if you didn't want to bend it. Not sure why you would give up on this plane. For a ft specific plane, I mean not modifying someone else's plans, this has to be the best design yet!

After watching 8-12 year olds building all the different FT planes at FliteFest, i cant see any problems for most to build this.

As CrashRecovery said, it's all about how complicated you want to make it. That applies directly to the transmitter choice. I think in their supplemental, they have to use a "programmable" transmitter (I use that term instead of "high end" as it's more descriptive and the reason why they cost more) due to the fact that they're trying to show the more complicated, optional settings.

I actually haven't watched the video itself, but I suspect they're going to cover how to setup flaps, maybe even differential ailerons, and such, which requires something more than a 4 channel TX will be capable of.

I actually think that's one of the great things about the Storch! I built the FT Cruiser because I wanted a "full house" plane with elevator, rudder, ailerons, and flaps. Talk about complicated, you can really make that complicated with differential thrust, differential ailerons, etc. Yet, my first configuration was super simple with Y servo connectors for the motors.

Anyway, I think the Storch is a great option that's even easier to build than the Cruiser (1 vs 2 powerpods) for a "full house" plane. Heck, I still haven't installed the flap servos on my Cruiser because it flies so well without them. From what I saw of the Storch, it's the same thing.

I didn't mean to say its complicated. Just more involved then originally expected. I've had a change in heart, and decided that Ill break into it tonight while I watch the game. I see they list the dt750 as a recommended power option. Id like to set the storch up with flaps to be able to fly fairly slow, with that said, would I be best served doing the dt750 and something like a 11" prop? Would that even clear on the storch?

Mine is in transit so I can not measure for you. It will probably work just fine. Just to tell you how slow it can fly Eric got about 25 min out of a battery just floating it around. Taking off into the wind the wheels rolled less then 4"before lift off

I will double check, but my 10"prop has well beyond a 1/2" clearance, so I see no issue with the 11."

Sounds good. I think a 11x47 should chug along decently enough for my to battle the epic winds on my local field.

So, this build is a blast! I'm hoping to maiden on Monday. My Storch will be rudder, elevator and aileron. Is the general opinion that mixing in 40% rudder with the aileron is good? I'm not real savvy on this point but love to see nice coordinated turns without flexing the left thumb!!!
