Help! FT Storch Plans

Newbie here. Building FT Storch. On the plan tiles 33,34,35, lower left of full plan, there are two long thin members which fold. Also above them are some squares. After watching the build video a couple of times I am unable to figure out what they are and where they are used. What am I missing? Thanks anyone who can help.

I think those are the leading edge slats. Not really required and not included in the main build video. They had another video of Advanced Storch things and I believe it mentions the slats in that video.
