FT Tutor

I'm about ready to pull the trigger on the FT Turbo Tutor. I've gotten very comfortable with the Mini Explorer w Sport Wing. I've built several planes and am getting more proficient. Would anyone recommend the Turbo Tutor? I was going to buy the bundle. I've read some posts where people had some difficulties with it, so I'm wondering if it's hard to build or inherently difficult to fly?

Hi toryander,

I have built several Tutors. They are not any harder to build then any other FT plane. Very simple build. I remember when Josh used the Tutor as a trainer plane to help out new polots. Here is an idea for you. I hope you like it. I would build both wings and start flying with the standard wing then switch to the turbo wing. I believe you will see a big difference in how the plane flys. The Tutors that I built had a B power pack. I know some guys have used a C power pack.

Best of luck with the build

Sounds good. At the next round of funding I'm going to buy the bundle. I fly off a horse pasture out back and like the wheels on this plane. I appreciate your input.

Have you ever thought about scratch building a plane from plans ? If you live in the USA, you can buy Adams Ready foam board. That was the first material FT used to build there first planes. It's just a thought. :) It can save you some money.

Keep having fun,

I'm building my 4th flat flyer from scratch right now. Crashed the first three on first flight. Still trying. My builds are getting better. Maybe this will be the one I get a second flight out of. 🌞

I believe I was mistaken in my first answer. It does include both wings, but I only built the turbo wing. My brother just bought the value bundle and it has both wings. He did just what you are looking to do--build the trainer wing first (with ailerons) and then the turbo wing.

Thanks for your quick reply. That’s exactly what I wanted to know. Will go ahead and order.
