How much building and flying experience do you have?
Jumping into the Viggen as your first plane and maybe first build is very ambitious and without help, fraught with peril. Don't get me wrong, I love mine but it is not a trainer plane.
If you don't have any radio gear and are asking for opinions you'll get a ton. It's like asking people what is the best kind of car, everyone has an idea. There are tons of radio threads on the usual forums like RCGroups and RCUniverse. You can also access manufacturers directly over in the radio section of RCuniverse. Not to belittle this forum, just some info for you.
So, you could get by with a 6 channel Orange Tx and a $6 orange Rx. or even an old Hitec Flash 5x 72 MHZ radio with elevon mixing found on Ebay. but those might limit your growth down the road. Really, almost any 6 channel 2.4GHz radio will be fine for you and work for many years. Spektrum makes a nice radio, I'm partial to Futaba but have also owned a few HITEC radios over the years. Find the radio manufacturer folks are using in your area and get that one so you have a local help base.
