I have been teaching my young cousin how to fly quads for the first time. I have a huge box full of beginner drones waiting to be hacked or modified, so I thought I should teach him using those....let's just say the pile of quads is now a lot smaller

Very cool man, always happy to hear about more people being introduced to the hobby. Are they hooked yet? ;).

I spent this last weekend working on getting my Flightline P-38 refinished. It's been on the shelf for a few months, and I finally decided to get it back in the air. Almost done with paint. And soon to be finished as WWII/Vietnam Ace Robin Old's Scat II.

Is that yours in the pics or is that what you are changing yours to look like? DD? Either way that looks menacing just sitting on the tarmac.

Yep, its mine. Just missing the nose art decal and a few touch-ups. Then she'll be ready for some low level strafing runs :D.

Maidened my Simple Soarer today. Nice! A few trim and balance tweaks and I will try for a little endurance mañana.

Just ordered out an esc. My old esc didn't give me full power, even when I calibrate it, additionally it wouldn't spool up, my grandpa had to help me and essentially kick start it. I also kept on burning out servos. I mean that as in I bacicaly got free 360 degree servos... mid flight or after the fact. I also ordered out some connectors to finally convert to xt-30.

On a side note, does anyone know of a good edf set up? I've been looking at the viggen recently...

What size fan and cell count are you looking at? For 70mm fans on 4S, there are two very good options:
The FMS unit, used with great success by Mid7night: http://www.fmsmodel.com/fms-70mm-ducted-fan-v2-12-blades-with-outrunner-motor-2845-kv2750-for-4s
And the Freewing unit, possibly soon to be the FT edf power pack: https://www.motionrc.com/products/freewing-70mm-12-blade-edf-4s-power-system-w-2849-2850kv
Also available at RC castle if Motion doesn't get stock in soon: http://www.rc-castle.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=5811

Sunday, I decided to FPV a little cheap RC car that my son got for his 4th birthday.

He loved driving it up and down the street wearing the goggles. I did too!

I am in the process of building a FT3D and am interested in getting an EDF soon. I saw some a few posts back but I am looking for an inexpensive 64 or 70mm edf. I saw that Mid7night had good experience with one from BG but I am just interested in what everyone thinks about it.

I posted some links to 70mm two posts back, but here are some links to the best options for 64mm fans. There are more powerful fans, or cheaper fans out there, but these seem to have the best balance of thrust, quality, and price. And they are all available from US retailers, so no questionable BG purchases necessary.

Watched this classic control line video. I could only do a few things back in the day. But I was fortunate to have received some tips from a guy that could do the whole stunt pattern and had competed at the Nats.

Wake up! Time to fly!
I was out late this afternoon retuning Taz as I have been getting random really hot motors after runs under different circumstances. I( ended up retiring one of the Graphenes I had that I know had a cell that was probably very high internal resistance from tracking the charging behavior. Today was the day it had to go. Sadly how ever I punctured my newest battery. My only tattu 1300 it had maybe 20 flight....RIP. Both batteries will be wearing the drain bulb in their fairwell tour of the outside deck in an old soup pot.

RIP to those lipos, and I guess that's one of the good things about flying planes instead of quads, I have never punctured or killed a lipo in a crash yet. *knocks on wood* But I bet it will happen soon enough when I go into the world of miniquads.

Yeah killing the Tattu was a freak thing. There happened to be a downed branch in deep grass where I tumbled it in and must have caught a nub on the branch. I am lucky it didn't catch fire or anything as I did not see the hole till I got inside after flying it some more after taking it off the quad. Now I am down to three batteries...
