After looking through various xplanes, I decided on the F-82/P-82. I like the original P-51 Mustang so I figured that having two of them together would be even more fun. According to the research I've done this plane was first tested June 15, 1945 (During WWII) but did not go into service until after WWII in 1946. For the prototype (picture below), I am using parts of the wings and the fuselage from the FT Mustang Plans. However I had to add a section to the middle of the wing of course and will to have to create a new tail which will span the two fuselage's. After maidening the prototype and seeing how it flies, I'm planning on creating my own fuselage design which will be less 'boxy' and more closely match the shape of the real plane. There will also be a bomb drop between the wings as with the original plane. Right now I'm thinking of using a twin C-pack for the plane as the wing span will be ~60 inches.
