My subject is the Trixter Beam. The plane was boxed by Guillow's.

I found the plans at outerzone.co.uk

For the challenge I rescaled the plans of my FB Beam to a 90% version that will fit on 4 sheets of Flitetest Foam. I'm drawing with LibreCAD and have most of the common parts prepared. So I scaled the whole drawing down, deleted the common parts and added them at 100 % size.

The provisional drawings for my entry are ready:

to be continued ....

How I'm getting serious, after some time consuming PC trouble, the build has finally started.

First step is building the wings:

106_2307.JPG

Very little parts, just wingpanels, spacers and a diheadral gauge.

106_2308.JPG

Grooves and prebends made.

106_2309.JPG

Spacers prepared with B-Fold.

106_2310.JPG

Spacers glued to the upper portion of the wing. Notice room for diheadral.

106_2311.JPG

Only little glue nessesary.

106_2312.JPG

Prebending the wing and glueing the kinks besides the spacers.

106_2313.JPG

The upper side is now holding its shape.

106_2314.JPG

Closing the wing in two steps. First nose and spacers, then the trailing edge.

106_2315.JPG

Checking clearance with the diheadral gauge.

106_2316.JPG

Opening the center section in order to put a healthy dose of hot glue in.

106_2317.JPG

Finishing with packing tape.

106_2318.JPG

To protect the trailing edge a barbeque skewer is inserted.

106_2319.JPG

Wing is now ready.

Next step the fuselage:

106_2320.JPG

The stiffeners are glued first.

106_2321.JPG

The block securing the powerpod is just inserted and will be glued in later.

106_2322.JPG

Right angels are mandatory.

106_2323.JPG

The bottom is completed.

106_2324.JPG

Keepers for the landing gear.

106_2325.JPG

Some glue added to keep them rigid.

106_2326.JPG

This block will later stiffen the linkage.

106_2327.JPG

Front decking attached.

Will be continued.

And off we go ....

106_2328.JPG

I use the Powerpod out of my FB Beam saving time.

106_2329.JPG

This will fix the firewall.

106_2330.JPG

Now it's time to glue the locking block.

106_2331.JPG

The Powerpod is now fixed.

106_2332.JPG

The cuts prevent buckling of the upper decking.

106_2333.JPG

And glued

106_2334.JPG

The barbeque skewers will take the rubberbands and will stiffen the opening.

106_2335.JPG

Lower decking and and more landing gear keepers.

106_2336.JPG

Fitting the keepers.

106_2337.JPG

Forward and main landing gear will be tied to the sticks by zipties.

106_2338.JPG

The wing is fitted to have a referece for rudder and elevator.

106_2339.JPG

The elevator halves are joined by the barbeque skewer.

106_2340.JPG

Bevels are done

106_2341.JPG

Carved out for the skewer.

106_2342.JPG

Last step is removing the area between the elevator halves.

106_2343.JPG

Tailfeathers glued to the fuselage.

106_2344.JPG

Servos mounted.

106_2346.JPG

Linkage is 0.8 mm pianowire in a small Nylon tube.

106_2348.JPG

The tubes are glued to the block and the fuselage sides.

106_2349.JPG

The bottom is prepared for the landing gear.

To be continued
