Not as a trainer. A good 2nd EDF or for high alpha training because of the forward edge strakes on it. Though, look at the RCpowers version of F-18. The F-18 V3 or V4 is the best model of it.Is the F-18 a good beginner EDF?

Plane - Foamboard F6F Hellcat
F6F Hellcat Designed by: Jack Niezgoda Plans by: Steve Niezgoda This Hellcat is a very easy and fun plane to fly. This Hellcat is very floaty because of its low wing loading. It can fly fast or slow if you want it to. This Hellcat is swappable...forum.flitetest.com
I hope to get a laser cutter soon 😉It appears to be dead, nothing for the last two years, John Overstread is out of it.
It seems like FT has no interest in bringing it back, I hate to be negative but I don’t see any new models of the master series.
If they are bringing it back, Some sort of official indication would be nice
Haha, just finished designing a Bearcat 😂My desire short list
Bearcat, tigercat, b-25, b-24, b-17, Cessna 182, Piper warrior,
You could follow @Mr Man's tutorial series!I have a neadle cutter, I just need to learn on shape. I know Sketchup and have been using autocad for 25 years. I just don’t have the time to create the plans.
It looks like it’s on use to bring out new models, Squadron 13 plans are very nice
Yeah it does suck. I remember right at the beginning of COVID when they had a couple of the master series plans out already Overstreet started his thread teasing a bunch of MS models that were in various stages of prototyping. Eventually a couple of these materialized but only as kits after "plan-gate" happened. It appears to be dead, nothing for the last two years, John Overstread is out of it.

I’m planning on it. Just takes time
FT won't be "bringing back" something that belongs to John Overstreet unless John Overstreet comes back to FT, or some other agreement is made between them.It appears to be dead, nothing for the last two years, John Overstread is out of it.

What you have affectionately called "Plan-gate" was created entirely by thieves, copyright infringement, and very low-quality bootleg copies being sold as official FT product to unknowing FT fans. It caused a lot of chaos for customers and loss of funds for FT. That sucks.Yeah it does suck. There are currently 23 new plans available to FTCA members via the FTCA Portal, if you're interested.Like I said, it is unfortunate how things ended up. Aside from the offenders, everyone else lost.
Overstreet has moved on to other adventures anyway but maybe one day FT and him will work something out.
I have had mostly positive experiences with FT's own designs and it is great that they shared all their designs back before all of that.
The plans for the MS P-38 are available for download. A few members in the forum here has posted them a few times. Just use the search function in the upper right hand corner of the page. But yes, a bit sad news to hear about John Overstread. That's life though, and stuff happens that are beyond anyones control. =_=Yeah it does suck. I remember being so excited as they had really taken mainstream foamboard building to new level above profile planes and "quick builds" to something that resembles built up construction with much less effort (and minimal finish work/sanding). At the time, 3D printed planes were still pretty niche and LW-PLA hadn't taken off yet. Fast-forward to now and only a few of those models were ever released (aside from the first couple, P-38 etc.) and only as kits which doesn't allow for re-scaling, etc. Plus, the 3D printing airplane world has exploded to what reminds me a little of the drone craze in the middle 2010's.
Now, there are other options like 13th Squadron, JetWorks, Julius Perdana, and others including our own community members. So its not like the idea is dead or anything but it was just unfortunate how it all panned out and the decisions that were made.
Oh my. That's not good at all. And these people here who started it all with Flite Test do not deserve this when they have been more or less the mainstay of keeping the hobby alive and approachable to get into. What you have affectionately called "Plan-gate" was created entirely by thieves, copyright infringement, and very low-quality bootleg copies being sold as official FT product to unknowing FT fans. Before that, FT gave a ton of free plans to everyone. And that doesn't suck.![]()
As I've gotten older I just don't have the energy for other peoples negative energy so I very much appreciate FT keeping this forum kid and old man friendly. This the friendliest forum I participate in
