I have a das ugly stick 104 iinch wingspan . it uses a 38 cc gas engine the exact one that josh has on his roadrunner. Gas oil ratio.? Been in my dads attic for 25 or 30 years. I am overhauling it.

hmmm, I'm pretty sure if it's that's old it's not "gas" as much as nitro fuel. which you get pre mixed. Actual gas engines didn't become a thing until much more recently on larger planes generally.

Pretty sure you want to ask this in the GAS forum rather than the ELECTRIC forum. ;)

Cheers!

If it's a true "gasoline" engine, you should be ok with 32:1 ratio, or even 40:1. Too much oil is better than not enough, but only to a point.

Thanks

Yea it's a true gasser my dad and I flew this same plane twenty five to thirty years ago. Thanks again I was thinking 32/1 also. To bad my Dad won't be here to see it fly again !!

i always thought: if in doubt, run rich on oil to fuel and fuel to air. spark plugs are cheep, running rich is good for everything except the plug, while running lean is bad for everything except the plug. so, while i believe this to be true, to much oil will create build up on the internal surfaces of the engine, and thus decrease performance, as well as increasing friction. so, in the end, if in doubt, still run rich, but not extra rich on the oil. one thing to note would be what kind of bearings/ bushing the engine uses, a nitro engine uses bushings on the connecting rod, and this requires a lot of oil, most two smokers on the other hand, use roller bearings, with require a lot less oil. sorry if i got to in-depth with this...
