Help! Getting into multirotors - Looking for my first quadcopter

I am talking about the one for drones......Here is a link to the FlySky TX that I use...Make sure you don't get the get the FS-i6 as its about the same price and has less features. (don't ask me how I know lol)
Strongly looking at this option now. Are there any limitations you find with the Flysky as opposed to ELRS?

Also why are there so many FS-i6X options on amazon? Different vendors or are there subtle differences I am not noticing?

It seems like I will have a much easier time finding a quadcopter once I get a different TX.

Different sellers, that’s all.

I don't know why there are so many options on Amazon.....Some have a 10 channel Rx's included but the one I gave you in the link is the best priced on Amazon that you will need. As too Elrs vs. Flysky I wouldn't know because I only have ever used Flysky. though it works just fine for me! Yeah I think it will be much easier when you get one! This is the Rx I use:

There is nothing wrong using your Spektrum transmitter and no need to buy another transmitter, for quads as long as the quad has the correct protocol the same for any transmitter. I have a Spektrum DX9 and a Radiomaster TX16S both fly quads just fine. Spektrum does make receivers for quads Spektrum is DSMX or DSM2 protocol and many quads that are smaller the receiver is built right into the flight controller.

Unless you want full telemetry to the FC, have full FC telemetry passed back to the transmitter for alerts and lua scripts, or want to fly long range. I used Spektrum for quite a few years on all my multirotors and have had 4-5 up to a DX8. I eventually migrated off when the features I wanted and ease of repair were not there. I also dropped from carrying multiple transmitters to just a single one out to the field.

If you are just doing basic flying, stick with what you already have.

Good to know I still have that option.

Any recommendations for bnf or pnp quadcopters if I stick with DSMX? I am having trouble finding many quads that are on DSMX protocol.

The only trouble is that it's really hard to find a affordable quad that uses DSMX and the Flysky would give him a lot more choices.

In theory, as long as the RX is not integrated into the FC, or there is a spare Serial Port, A quad could be converted to DSMX (or another protocol) by swapping out or adding a different serial receiver.

I don't think I am fully understanding what a serial receiver is. Is this receiver that comes with the FSI6X a serial receiver? Is the lemon rx one as well?

From my current understanding, I need to find a receiver that can connect to the port on the FC of the quadcopter, is that right? I haven't been able to find a good comprehensive video otherwise I'd have this down a little better.

The receiver that comes with that can do the PWM , PPM and Ibus protocols. so you need to find a FC that will work with that protocol.

MOST firmware can tak to just about ANY mainstream serial receiver. Depending on the receiver, it will use 3 or 4 wires to connect to a serial port on the flight controller. Above is a picture showing a flight controller and the way different protocol RXes are normally wired to it.
