Great Planes J-3 Windshield Cleaning

So I built this Cub throughout the past couple years, and have finally been flying it, which it does very well, but the fuel and the windshield don't seem to agree. Its really foggy no matter what I do, and its driving me nuts. And sometimes when I dry it off, this white residue forms on the surface. I noticed i can scrape this off with my fingernail. The aircraft is a Great Planes 40 Size Cub with a Fox Eagle 60 on the nose.

Well you'll never believe it. Toothpaste. I rubbed it in good with a cotton ball, and polished it with a paper towel, an I can actually see through it! Not perfect, but way better!

Toothpaste is basically a light polishing compound. I don't know if there is a better product for this specific instance, but for general plastic polishing I like Meguiar's PlastX.
