Hi all,
I wanted to share my HatCam design with you all so you can get some great flight video on your own using just your phone camera and a hat. You can download the part files to 3D print your own here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4444543
Some general recommendations when trying to film yourself flying:
This is a video shot entirely with my HatCam. Check out how great the quality is for filming by myself with only an iphone:

Some general recommendations when trying to film yourself flying:
- If you don't have a 3D printer, you can make a similar part using foamboard and hot glue. Mine just uses two binder clips to clip on the brim of a regular baseball hat.
- You may need to play around with the camera angle. I found that pointing the camera about 10 degrees downward relative to the hat brim gives the best results for the way you typically wear a hat.
- If your camera/phone supports is, shoot in 4k! This allows you to zoom up to 2x in post to better track the airplane in flight without significant loss of quality for an HD video. You can also zoom and pan a little bit to keep the airplane centered.
- Davinci Resolve is a free, extremely powerful, and VERY easy to use video editor where you can edit 4k videos in the way described above. Link: https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/pr...MI6dXY6oj46QIV1QiICR2I_g58EAAYASAAEgKbNfD_BwE
