Hi every body I'm a newbie from Romania (E. Europe) , and this is my first post here . Sorry if I will make some mistakes wen I type , my English is better wen I speak... . I have started this "hobby" 3-4 months ago starting from the wrong direction (fighter planes). All of us dream to fly fast , up and high but as a starter we don't know it's not a good idea. I have started with rcpowers builds, home made not lasser cut kits … , bad thing to do. The main problem is Rc planes and gear are not so cheap and if you get some youtube video with "5$ homemade plane" … just forget about it :)). My recent problem : A2212 2700kv cheap motor with 30A Esc (I can bet it will not take even 16A) , 2 x 9g servos, 2s 1600A battery - I need a some ideas about something to fly with this :D . PS : my remote is home made Arduino based rx/tx , so i'm used to do things off the book . Thanks in advance :*

Hello, and welcome to the family. :)

You have a odd selection of parts, but we will make something work.

Typically I would suggest a Tiny Trainer, but your battery is too big for that unfortunately. If you are in the market for new batteries, I would suggest a 2cell and something like a 6x4-7x4 prop for that kv with a Tiny Trainer.

Another good suggestion would be the FT Explorer, but you might have balance issues with the battery you have. It would be a floater on a 3 channel setup though. Running a 6X3 on a 3cell would be slightly underpowered, but would also keep you from getting yourself in too much trouble.

Finally, you always have the indestructible FT Nutball, FT Delta or FT flyer.
I am not sure what kind of foamboard you have available at your location, but the key thing right now is to build simple and build light. My vote would be the Nutball or Flyer for basic flight, then moving to a delta for bank and yank once you get your skills up.

Good luck with whatever you decide and keep us posted on how it goes. (y)

Thank's for the reply :), the big problem is that i don't know the thrust of this motor on 2s ... If any one have some knolege about China Motors and esc that can help a lot . I have some 2204 motor that i can use but the all up electronics will be 250g so starting from that i need a type of wing to build around it. In have at this point 4x4x3 bn, 5x5 bn , 8x6 and 9x6 .i use depron to build it ... available options 6mm, 5mm and 3 mm. PS: already trashed a mig29 because it was to heavy for the setup I was using :(

One option for learning and gaining flight experience with the hardware you have is maybe updating it (if it doesn't already support it) to modify your controller to output PC Joystick USB signals in addition to the RF signal. That way, you can connect it to a PC and practice with any number of free RC flight simulators. It might be a quicker and easier way to get flying practice in. It's mostly a software project, but if you didn't already have a USB interface on your arduino controller, it may even involve some hardware work.

Sorry but i don't know what your post was about ... If you have something to say about my remote ... or about the main setup (motor/esc/battery) . I just gues You have made some wrong post . Thank You.

For starting I would recommend a cheap Chinese flysky transmitter like the i6. It’s cheap and works. It’s only $46 USD and I have had a very good experience for how cheap it is.

Here is a link to it.

Thank's for the reply, one more time i underline that i have no rx/tx problems, the main problem is weith/thrust and wing type that can be build around that setup : 2212/2700kv or 2204/2300kv on some 30a esc with 2s lipo using props 4x4x3 bn, 5x5bn, 8x6 apc, 9x6 apc. The last 2 props i gues i can't use with this 2 motors ... so any other idea !? Thank You.

Wake up! Time to fly!
Here is the spec page for the Emax 2204 2300KV motor. At the bottom is a chart for different props and battery sizes that show amp draw thrust and efficiency. You can extrapolate from there and determine which props you have you may be able to try.

https://www.emaxmodel.com/emax-multicopter-motor-mt2204-kv2300.html

Here this guy is using the 2212 motor on his plane. the specs of the plane and what gear he used are in his description.

Here is someone doing a thrust test WAY over propped so you may gather more info there on the 2212

:) Thank You , the f18 is cool but not for beginers. Last week i have burned my esc trying this setup on ft scout ... In 30 minutes i will try it again and hope i will get 600g trust out so i have 1/1 w/t ratio

Well something unexpected happened ... My wing went to pieces in middle air . Last week crash weken it i gues . i will have to w8 next shipment from China as my motor and prop is unusable atm. The point is ft scout can fly with 2212 2300-2700kv and a 5x5 bn prop but an 40A esc is needed. Building from depron as lite as posible 500-550g all electronics up. The wing will need some reinforcemnt for the next one

I have a couple of those setups. 2212/6 2200kv with a 30A esc and a 3s 2200mah 35c and it works great.
for the scout im using this A2212 13T 1000KV Brushless Motor 30A ESC 1045 Propeller and a 3s 1400mah 60c

Thank's for reply :) , those a2212 looks like a big deal for me ... Good china motor , after 3 good bumps i have managed to break it . I have ordered 1 a2212 1400 kv on 05.06.2018 and the postoffice told me today that i will w8 for it One more month :((. 4x1000kv coming up this weekend from a local store :| , One of them i will use to fix (replace shaft) my 2700kv. Ps. I have made some modifications on my second scout ... I made the front a little bit smaller . I think i can use smaller props on it .

Maiden & crash ... The wind was not so cool and the model was a little tail heavy & my controls were in reverse :)). The thing is that she flys ... with no roll problems . The vid is to big to upload , i will update web it's ready on YouTube

Well, considering all of those factors trying to make your plane take a dirt nap I would say you did pretty good.(y)

It looks like it is still intact, does it live to see another day?

Yep, 2 bad bumps and elevator went off . Not to bad for a first fly test . Just need to reprogram Arduino and replace elevator :) . The main purpose was to test my power parts and home made remote. It's working better then I was thinking it will. No range problems , no data los, power it'more then I need ... so I guess will do more next weekend + 1 more pusher plane with same design :D
