Hello fellow fliers.
I have been wanting to get into the hobby for some time now. I have a few hours on a flight sim and plan on starting my first build, FT simple cub, shortly. I will post as I progress. I do have a 10W diode laser, so I plan on cutting my own parts.
Welcome!

Welcome to the fun madness. We love it when people share pictures of their builds and flying areas. Let us know how the 10W laser does cutting foamboard. I have gotten it to work with some tinkering but find it is better to mark it with the laser and finish it with a knife.

Cheers!

I will be picking up some DTFB this weekend and running a few test. I'm hoping for cut through to the bottom layer of paper but if all I get is a mark in the top paper I will be happy. That will save me time from printing tiles and cutting paper to cut foam board.

Welp did some testing today marking layout on the foam board to cut with a knife is what I got. I was only able to get the laser to cut half way through but that was with some significant foam melting. By cutting the top paper with the laser it did make a nice guide for the knife to run along and gave me a clean cut. My next project, hopefully tomorrow I will get the supplies, it to make a vacuum board to hold the foam boards flat, I tried double sided tape today and ended up ripping some of the paper getting it off.

I did a vacuum table for my needle cutter, works really well.

I would think burning away the top layer and foam and leaving the bottom paper layer intact is optimal. Hit it with a #11 to free the parts, waller, and no loose parts to get shredded or lost by various things while waiting. But I don't have a laser, but can play one on TV
