Help Motor For Cub/Scout/FT22

Would any one know if this motor Feichao A2208 2208 Brushless Motor 2600kv with a 6x4 prop would work for a simple scout/ cub or general Power Pack B airplane.

definitely go for the FT22. imo the cub or scout are way too big for that motor

Bigger prop and the scout woiuld be “fine” it would be a touch underpowerd

That motor is a better fit for the "mini" sized planes. You need a larger motor with lower KV spinning a larger prop for the cub or scout.

The "low end" (B-pack) recommended motor, for instance, is a 2212 and 1050kv spinning a 9x4.5 prop.
The higher (C-Pack) motor is a 2218 1180kv spinning a 10x4.5 prop.

So basically if you look for a motor somewhere around that range spinning a prop somewhere around that range, you'll probably be fine.

My scout flies on the C-pack motor at about half throttle just fine.

Ok so your motor cannot really spin a larger prop than a 6" prop.
So rather don't try run a larger prop on it or it will burn up

There is a loose association between KV numbers and prop size. This is an over simplification but basically the larger the prop, the lower the KV. Mainly this is because lower KV is generally associated with higher torque, so a lower KV motor is stronger than a higher KV motor and can handle the larger prop better.

You generally cannot put an 8" prop on the motor you have because while it would likely work for a short time (minutes, I suppose), it would likely fail spectacularly in that your motor would overheat and possibly start on fire. That motor at that KV level is made for 5 or 6" props.

There's more to this, of course. The pitch has an effect, the number of blades have an effect, but in general, you have the wrong motor for the Cub or Scout.

If you want to build the MINI scout, that motor would work.
