Ok been in the hobby for 20 years got out of it 10 years ago tired of the gas and balsa wood planes you normal get one ruff landing and then your back to the drawing board lol.My questions is i would like to order all new stuff from Flte test but i am a little confused with the new tech I am getting confused as what transmitter and receiver that goes with it to order . I have three planes in my cart and need a 6 channel capable to hold a few models but not sure what receivers go with what transmitter doe not really say on the web site. Leaning to the fly sky 6 channel easy receiver to pick but I notice some of the flite test transmitters but cant seem to find what extra receivers i need to order for the extra planes and ideas to point me in the right direction

Hey, welcome back! I use the flysky and it works great! You can get the RX's everywhere like on Ebay, Amazon ect. You probably want this model model as it is a 10 channel and will give you a lot of options for the future.

Here is a thread you should check out - Which Transmitter You Should Buy. The prices and features are out of date but the basic information is still good.

Regarding which Tx goes with a Rx. They will work with each other provided both are on the same protocol.
I used to be able to say, as long as the Rx & Tx are of the same brand, they will work. Not true any more. All of the brands have introduced new protocols which may or may not be compatible with older equipment, of the same brand. When you commit to a proprietary protocol, you are locked in to that manufacturer. Keep in mind that you will need only one Tx but you will likely buy many Rx's. The Price of the Rx's will likely have a greater impact on the budget than the Tx.

I prefer the open source protocols like ELRS. Anyone can make a ELRS transmitter or receiver. More competition makes the hardware less expensive. ELRS has proven to be just as reliable maybe even more reliable than proprietary protocols.

I use the Radio Master Tx with the ELRS module, but there are many different manufactures to chose from. In my experience all of them are good. buy the one you can easily get a hold of.

Merv makes good points but since I fly a lot of different manufacturer models I purchased the Radiomaster TX16s with the multi protocol and added a ELRS module best of all worlds in my opinion. Just because I can I still like the Feel of my Spektrum DX9 transmitter over the TX16s ergonomics.

Those can cost more though.....It really depends on how much he wants to spend....The Flysky works great if you are on a budget or don''t plan on going really deep into the hobby.

The TX16 is my dream radio! This one right here:

Even the original TX16S is a nice radio. I have the Original TX16S And the Mark II but have never transferred everything over to the MarkII. I've used the markII mostly for testing a few things. Enough to appreciate the hall effect Gimbals. The OG TX16S gimbals periodically need calibrated, especially with a big change in temps.
