Help with UART's and Betaflight Setup

Hello everyone!

I am wanting to get some more information on the correlation between soldering UART pads on my FC and the connection on Betaflight. I'm trying to setup my Nazgul 5" drone that has a Sologood F722 FC and my Radiomaster Pocket but I'm stumped. A local drone service store did the soldering but I'm trying to figure out how to set it up in Betaflight.

Thank you!
Matt

I would ask whoever soldered it up that question. They should have either a) set betaflight up for you, or B) provided you with the information needed to set it up.

Thank you! I have a few messages into him but he’s not responded yet. I thought it could be a good sign to start learning it for myself so I’m more independent and can save money in the future. I just don’t understand the TX 1/ RX 1 correlation or if he routed my receiver to Uart 5 do I turn on the uart for the 5 and the serial? It’s kind of confusing.

But if I understand the soldering points will help.

Thanks again! :)

The pads on your FC marked Tx1 & Rx1 correspond to uart1 in the software. The pad Tx1 should be wired to the Rx on the receiver, likewise the pad marked Rx1 should be wired to the Tx on the receiver.

Let me know if I misunderstood your question. I'm fairly new to the FC world. The information coming at us so fast that I feel like I trying to get a drink of water from a fire hose.

That’s part of the question thank you. I’m not sure what I do exactly of the repair guy soldered on the tx5 and rx5 for example.

What do I click on the ports tab of betaflight to get everything working and talking to each other?

This is an example but I know I need to click on the corresponding uart with the correct serial rx.

Right now I’m trying to get my iflight Nazgûl drone that has a Sologood F722a FC paired with my radiometer pocket which is ELRS. 🙂

The problem I have with the photos is they don't show what is at the other end of the wires. We don't know what kind of FPV gear you have or what kind of receiver you have. The ESP32 board could be some sort of homebrew ELRS receiver, but that is only a guess. No idea what the VTX plug is connected to or what the camera is wired to. You need to provide us with more details before we can give good help setting it up.

This plug would normally be wired to an HD VTX and possibly an SBUS receiver, but only the VTX part of the plug is connected. This is UART3, but your ports screenshot shows UART1 configured for MSP+DISPLAYPORT.

My best guess is that this is wired to UART5 and is your receiver. Some sort of homebrew ELRS setup.

Really need to see what the board is hiding under the 3D printed yellow cover, and where those wires go.
