Hobby King Mini P-51D Mustang - Love this little model!!

Hi Guys,

If I had to pick a WWII aircraft it would be the P-51D Mustang. The best thing about this design is the fact that it seems to translate into a great flying RC Model. In all honestly I didn't think this Hobby King Model would fly well because of its size, but let me assure you it flies just as good as RC version with a 2000mm wing span. This model flies just like a Big RC Model solid as a rock, even on a mildly windy day.

I also like the fact that it's so small and quick to get in the air. In any case my son and I did some flying yesterday and I we shot this very quick video just for this Thread!

The battery was already low so I was flying it mainly and half throttle or less . . its a little rocket with unlimited vertical climb!

I have a few favorites when it comes to WWII fighters. They are the F4F Wildcat, the P-38 Lightning, the F4U Corsair, and of course the P-51 Mustang. A friend of mine has a P-51 similar to yours. I think his is an 800mm Airfield make. There's a definite thrill in seeing replicas of these distinguished fighters in the air.

colorex No probs man it should be safe, I think its more likely it will die from over use rather than a crash. It's very stable in the air . . such a great little model.

JimCR120, My son likes the P-47! Mind you I like the look of a Corsair but never had one or flown one.

I have no idea . . Thomas is the one that comes out with all this. BTW: What about the Combat Wings etc . . It was news to me!! I don't know if I plan on buying models for us to smash!!

But seriously its just a great model that you can have in the car and go up for a quick flight. Its not twitchy or anything like that at all. Having said that I don't think I would recommend it to beginners but it flies so nice. When I get to the field I just remove the magnetic canopy connect the power and its read to go.

Its worth noting that battery life is from 6-8 min depending on how economical you are with the throttle :)

Would it be possible to put a link to the plane that you're mentioning, whenever one's available?

I think it would be a helpful added feature.

Bringing an old thread back to life, I recently maidened my mini P-51 and agree that it's a blast to fly. I ran four packs through it this morning on "Dawn Patrol" and my only complaint is that it climbs a lot under power. I just mixed in a little down elevator, so hopefully that fixes the issue on my next flight.

I have an Ultra Micro version of this plane. It might be about 10 inches wingspan. I still love it, though, as my first plane I've flown.
