I assume you're referring to the motors. And yes, they are very interesting. They're nice and smooth with no bearing play (the RCX motors have a tiny amount), have an integrated prop mount, and beg for 6" props. Look forward to data logging with them.

Opps, yea, I meant the motors. . . :eek::p

Howdy all. Thought I'd make mention of my FPV 250. Solid little thrasher that I both love and hate.

Specs:
Diatone 250 frame and cage
Gemfan 5030 props
RCX 1804 2400kv motors
RCX Gseries 10A ESCs
Flip 1.5 mw 2.3
Spektrum 6210 + satellite
Fatshark 250mw transmitter
ImmersionRC spironet CP antennas
Fatshark 600TVL CMOS camera
Nanotech 1300mAh 3S 45-90C lipo
Mobius wide angle version

AUW is around 530 grams, which I feel is a bit too much for the RCX motors. Flies pretty well otherwise, just 'high-G' manouvers really aren't doable and feel like driving a dump truck. It'll definitely take a hit and keep on ticking however. I haven't quite tuned it due in part to laziness either and it still flies well.

I've only been flying FPV for a few weeks and that time in itself is sparse and spaced in between, but this frame is nice 'cause I really don't mind if I wreck it. Helps me go fly fast near things without a care :) I was more upset over breaking my lens one day than I was the frame, which required far more work to deal with (good thing I bought extras :D).

Here's some videos of my flying around. Still got wobbles to tune out as mentioned, just waiting on a halfway decent day to actually fly.

And to prove it can take a few hits:

Ha. I loved that crashes video.

I run the RCX motors with 5030 props on my Polakium quad, and they get a little sluggish when even at 480 grams with FPV gear and Mobius on board; couldn't imagine fly over 500 grams. I expect these EMAX MT1806 motors to still make for a hot cruiser even at my flying weights.

Will the Polakium quad frame tolerate a 6" rotor?

I am considering a Polak build to rival my Warp Quad String Theory. The Polak won't be as tough but it could be lighter and has more real estate if I ever want to try FPV.

The V3 Quad will clear 6" props, even with the roll bar strapped on. There is about 3/8th of an inch clearance with 6" props and the roll bar. The Polakium frame makes for a cleaner build than the FPV250 frame, but they both run 6" props.

Not technically the same frame but I'm sure you'll enjoy this. This was shot from one of the local race meets here in Brisabne. These frames can be made free from these plans.

That site has got some awesome looking little frames. Gonna check that out.

And that video is pure brilliance. Awesome carnage.

Yeah, for the type of flying I've done which is mostly high speed cruising, they're barely alright. If I need to pull out of any sticky situations, I need loads of room or I end up eating dirt. Full throttle punchouts are laughable.

I've already got some Sunnysky motors and all the other necessary parts on the way, I'm just waiting on a couple other bits and an RD230 frame and I'll be good to go and have a monster of a machine. I'll aim for a dry weight of around 450 grams or less if I can. If I can somehow manage to get an AUW around or under 500g I'll be very, very pleased.

All these mini FPV quads have me choppin' at the bit!

I have 4 of the BC2208-8 2600KV motors from rctimer, and HQ 0630 props FGA recommends, and the AFRO slims coming in about a week, and just grabbed some 24 gauge x 6.4mm copper strips. I've got something radical I wanna try.

3A at just below 20% throttle for the sunnSky's still using the FC 6x4.5 props which produce 40grams less thrust than the HQ's. Mind you the frame is a little lighter at about 320grams. The smaller dia motor looks to be working a little harder to swing the 6" props but not doing too badly if I must say. The power and speed with those props is nice isn't it ... :)

85 grams lighter is a huge amount, 21%, and makes for considerably less power needed to hover. That 85 grams is just about the same weight as my FS 250MW VTX, 600TVL Camera, Wiring, and Mobius action camera would be. Or it's an extra 1000mAh 3S battery in weight penalty. Comparing the WQ to just about everything else just isn't going to be apples to apples.

I don't have a thrust measuring rig. I need to sort that one out.

Wow Mustang, those motor containers look like keepers to me.

They are really nice. I kept em around, for something eventually.

I still wanna see more photos and video of that hex Cyber D...

I think you got the last set of HQ 6045s and HQ 5040s on the planet, Mustang...

Bum ;).

Ahh, but sadly, I didn't. I got the 0630s. And to my dismay, they appear to cut very little air the last 1/2-3/4" from the tip. I'm afraid the BC2208-8 2600KVs I have coming in a few days will over power them. Plus they are much more flimsy than what I thought they would be.

[edit]

I checked and the 0645s are now in stock and I grabbed two sets!

I think the HQ rotors in the 5" and 6" range are pretty good compared to the Gemfans. The Gemfans at these sizes REALLY blow.

Where the Gemfans are good for is in price. They're not as durable so I'm sure you'll go through more, but if you intend on having a little basher where you're bound to break props, the Gemfans aren't that bad.

This is of course speaking exclusively of their 5" props. The 6" Gemfans are flat out useless.
