I continue to run my O.S 160FX engines. They are powerful easy maintenance, and just reliable engines. I have been using them the last 12 years or so. As a matter of fact a few years back O.S quit manufacturing them because more guys were turning to gas. Sad to see that. So i got a hold of my zone director who buys up estates of R/C gear. I really wanted another one.

I asked him if he could get me one, he said, the day i called him, he thought there was 1 in the gear he just purchased a couple of days before. He said he would get back to me, next day he sent me a couple of pics, we came to a price and i snapped it up right away. He was telling me, he had many that wanted to get their hands on one. I am so happy to have it. I have 3 of them on three of my fav planes.

Here's a pick of the one i got, was like new, maybe a tank of fuel was run through it at the time.

I have an OS .40 Max FP that has never been run. Bought it when I built a Sig Kadet kit from sticks back in the 80's. Had it in an ARF at one point too. Never flew either.

Drool.... one flip starts, runs until the tank is visibly empty, flies .60 planes and reliably idles.

Still have a few glows around what killed them is the price of glow fuel I have converted many from glow to fuel, way way cheaper to fly and a lot less clean up. There is nothing that smells better then a running glow engine.

extremely hard to start and poor idle. drove me crazy

I have very little cleanup, practically zero, using the Pitt style muffler. But you are right about the cost of glow being more expensive than gasoline. I paid $50 a gallon this year. The year before it was $25 the cost for me is due to tariffs. I am told by my friend and shop owner , he can only get it now in the quart sizes, no longer gallon. The cost will be $35 a quart, i burned 4 gallons last year do the math.

I have been in the hobby will be 35 years next year, so i will run glow til i leave the hobby. Too old to turn my engines over to gasoline now. And the extra cost not worth it for me.

Thing of beauty. Have its smaller brother: a 19 but is missing the front mount hole left side.

You guys do know that hot rod shops can make or get fuel? Bit cheaper but not by much.

I tried to get our club to start making our own to get real good pricing ethanol needs to be bought in 55 gallon drums, nitro methane in 5 gallon lots. Then just need any good 2 cycle synthetic oil with maybe just a touch of castor oil to help in case of a lean running engine.
