How to make FT style plans?

People who have made their own designs before, How hard is it to design a plane? What do you need to have for the plane to fly? Do you just need a big enough wing, good power, and a good cg? Or is it more complicated than that?
My motto is "I design things that don't exist". Hence, I just use paper and cut and paste and work on the many problems that exist. It is complicated as you said. You must look at airflows, structural and forces that act, react on your design. I do a lot of "white paper" research and experiments.
For instance, very little is done with EDF's. Lot's of problems have to be solved and it is getting worse with the new upcoming NYGAD fighters. So you need to keep abreast of what is happening. 3D printers are now helping to solve some of the problems in design work. Some fly, others not. So it is more complicated than that.

Flying well is hard, there are 2-3 dozen factors that need to be right. Here is a starting place.

Here are some general rules of thumb that most successful planes will follow.

All of those things are needed to make a rc airplane fly and yes it gets more complicated from there....but only if u want it to - otherwise it's quite simple and almost anything can fly if it has proper cg, power and a good wingspan.

I myself have designed a few rc planes before and it really isn't that hard at all and I recommend to u to start designing simple trainers first or just something simple dont try to design a F16. By designing the simple airplanes first it will help u learn the basics of designing a airplane !
