How to submit a new plane design to FT?

My primary focus is upon balsa type planes for the new kits I develop. I do enjoy the design process itself and expanding from there to bust out my own line of foam board planes isn't something I want to get into but still, I can imagine FT could use my skills and coming up with additional plane lines for them to carry.

Before getting the laser cutter and 3d printing gear my background has been scratch building with some kits from time to time, balsa to foam based along with. I still do encourage people to scratch build but also for those wanting a simpler route, it's been rather pointing to foam board based and FT being one of the go-to's for that have pointed people that direction along with for the kits.

i think you can post it in resources
I am just wanting to submit a plane or two to them for inclusion for their kit lines, not a full time job type of thing. I can contact them direct I suppose, but wouldn't it be nice to have a section on the forums for people to submit their own along with for them?

At the top of each page there is a link to the Resources section of the Forum. It is where we upload many designs, modifications, etc.

if they want kit design input, i suppose they will be willing to communicate about that after you contact them.
another thought would be to drop in at the weekly fly in and speak to josh. or you can contact sponz, who creates a lot of their designs i think.

That looks like more of a space for amateur designers to share their designs for free which I can do from my own website or social media if I was wanting to go that route, which happen to do already be it limited and balsa based creations. I may need to contact them direct for this, was just hoping they had a submit your plans to them for inclusion for their lines type of thing.

I see what they do extend from their own lines, most of which are really designed around the laser cutter for being practical to bash out unless one has a lot of skills already. My approach would be in line with their quality, caliber and style but will be making concessions for the DIY crowd that do not have the gear nor skill level too.

all of their plans can and have been manually cut with razor knives by many here, including myself.

You of course have the skills to handle it. I can say the same with my kit's I manufacture, to me, it's a walk in the park compared to the regular ones I've done over the years but for someone newer to balsa building, they can tend to be a challenge to them regardless. What I've been doing is knowing when to pull back, that there are human hands that are building and that as much machining I can set up ahead of time, I have to allow for some degree of variance. Take like for example Dancing Wings planes, they rather ignore that fact so if you are off by even a fraction there is no way to recover from there on the build because they ignore the fact there are human hands building it. With foam board based, it's going to be good to show both the machined, laser cut version and the simpler designed for scratch built.
