I received this in the mail yesterday :
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/...ng_F4U_Corsair_Plug_n_Fly_AUS_Warehouse_.html

Thank you HK! It feels much stronger and better than the eps f6f that I had. The tail feathers actually have a bit of an aerofoil shape to them instead of just a flat plate. The construction is much better and it is way heavier than the other one too. though the foam hinges are too stiff, I hope the servos can handle it.

I haven't maidend it yet, I only have a 2200 mAh battery which is too long to fit in the stock battery hole. I was hoping to fly it stock for a start before any mods. Hopefully the local store will have a battery that'll fit.

Can't wait to fly it, most reports say it's a real nice flyer.

[rant]Grrrrrr! Local hobby shop is a joke! They don't have any lipos at all! So I went to our local electronics store, and they have had so many people come in asking for stuff and complaining about the hobby shop that they are going to start stocking stuff in the new year. Doesn't help me now though.[/rant]

So I guess I'll need to mod the plane to fit the larger batter that I do have. Oh, and now that I have a plane again, the wind is back :(

I managed to get the longer battery to fit with minimal cutting, and the balance seems to be pretty good - about 65mm back from the LE.

cant wait to get this one in the air

Got up early this morning so I could get some calm weather. got out at the field at 6:30, and just as I put the plane down, the wind picks up! So I give it a go, and it got a bit of a gust under it and went up about 1 meter, stalled and nose dived. No real damage, just a bit broke off the elevator and cracked the horizontal stab. That glued back on no worries, and I put in a CF strip in the HS to stiffen it up a bit.

I found out that my plane was obviously made on a Monday, as the motor mount was not screwed in properly. It was just good enough that when I was putting the prop on, but the knock it got made it loose. One screw was loose, one was not even into the back plate, just into the foam.

So later on, all fixed and not a breath of wind out side, but pouring with rain! I just cant catch a break with the weather.

Later still.... evening time, and the wind is still low, and the rain has eased. I grabbed the plane, and headed off. I pulled up at the field, and waited for the rain to die down.

At last, the moment arrived! I jumped out of the car, open the boot and get the plane out. The battery was a little stubborn, and takes some time to get in place. It starts spitting again, but I wasn't going to turn back now! I give the controls a quick check, and up the throttle to about 3/4 and let it go.

I wasn't disappointed, it flew beautifully! just a little aileron trim and its flying nice. I had set my timer for just 5 minutes, Its a brand new batter, and I wasn't sure on how long I could fly for, so better safe than sorry.

The timer beeps, and its time to bring her in. I circle back to get a run into the wind, and start the decent. I came in a bit hot, and the ground has a bit of long stubble, so landing was always going to be a bit rough. I touch down and it noses over, but when I go to pick up the plane, I notice that one wheel had come off on landing. There was no other damage, until I got back to the car! I bumped the previously repaired Hstab and re-cracked the joint.

All in all a great maiden, and the review are right, it does fly really really nice.

Forgot to say, the charger put just shy of 600mAh into the pack, so fir a flight the was mostly 3/4 to full throttle, I could easily 10 minutes on the 2200 that I'm using.
