I want to buy the Freewing F9F 64mm as my first EDF, anything I should consider?

Good, so should I save up for a FlySky transmitter and some receivers then? First Transmitter and then F9F?
Oh wait...You don't have one? I thought you were saying that you already have one and you use spektrum in you horizon hobby planes and flysky in your other ones.....BTW FlySky Transmitters are only $55 with a receiver.

Sorry for confusion, but it does sound like a better idea. I CAN afford FlySky, specially if I learn to graduate from gyro systems. And you are right, the cheapest programmable Spektrum transmitter costs more than some planes.

Yeah you can get a Flysky Rx for about $15

So let's say I only use Spektrum for Horizon Hobby planes and all the FT and PNP planes with FlySky, that sound good?
Whether using Spektrum, FlySky, or anything else, the most important thing is to make sure the control surface deflections and travels are all correct. The Spektrum DXS can be used with FT airplanes, but you need to either use a receiver without a gyro with it or to go in and set up the gyro correctly for the airplane being used. It's also more difficult to set the correct travels since the DXS doesn't have good programming options which means the travels need to be controlled mechanically on the plane.

Overall, a FlySky computer radio will be much easier to work with and is a better option. Another option is a Radiomaster radio with the multi module since that will bind to most receivers which lets you continue to fly your Spektrum planes but doesn't lock you in to one brand.

You can you use the aura 5 with a Lemon RX I believe.

And you STILL need to verify that the control surfaces are moving in the right direction. Not just with the sticks but also with the gyro/accelerometer. Adjust the servo reversing in the FC, NOT the radio.

THIS is what can happen when the sticks are right, but the gyro/accellerometer are wrong on one axis...

The elevator channel was reversed in this instance. It flew fine until I switched from manual mode to Gyro/accell stabilized mode. At that point it quickly went straight up, stalled, and I never had time to recover.

Had I checked the sticks AND gyro response before taking off this could have been avoided.

Ouch! (My brother did that with his first gyro.....I was wiser because I learned form his mistake....) (Probably would have made same mistake if I hadn't seen what happens if you don't check that lol)
