Hi folks, I've been interested in aviation my whole life. Actually started flight school when i was young but between being 6'6 and built like a pepsi machine, and being poor, it wasnt in the cards. I did mess with a Whoop for a bit several years ago, but thats all the experience i have. I think i'm interested in a fixed wing FPV. Head Tracking would be awesome, but i assume that will make things way more complicated and expensive? I know its a broad question, but could you guys help point me toward some things to look at? Definitly FPV, either a flying wing or conventional airframe. Relatively long range would be nice, and as large as i can get while still being able to fit it in my car. I'd like to keep it under 2500 or so for everything, and simple is better to a point, but i'm definitely not afraid to learn some new stuff!

Edit: i really need someone experienced to kind of hold my hand here. i can find plenty of info out there for quads, but long range fixed wing is very fragmented. I cant even figure seem to find a site that has everything needed in stock that doesnt take 2 months to ship! And unfortunately the only local hobby shops within driving distance shun FPV for some reason.

My advice, learn to fly line of sight first. Start with a trainer plane, something like the FT Explorer. It's also a good FPV platform. After you have some experience you can go wild with modifications.

Here is the first in a video series on how to be successful in FPV. This video was made a few years ago, before digital FPV was a thing. It still has a lot of good information about the basics of FPV.

I will second on this, because you will always have to get it up in the sky before you can start flying FPV (y)

So are looking into getting a pre built plane or making your own? (You can get a pretty good prebuilt plane and add the FPV system of your choice on)
