Burn the gemfans.

To be honest I find 1806s pointless, why bother unless you are running 5030 or 5040 on 3s (which are redundant unless you are a
beginner, which ever if you are, good quality 2204s are better for future proofing).

Do any of the kits come with motors with more beef?

no extra beef at this point in time. I believe the 1806s are part of the original design by zee, and he'll tell you himself he likes them for their lighter weight on this frame. adding 20grams (about 5 grams per motor difference) supposedly will make it handle differently. I've already seen posts from guys who prefer 4s, try it out on 3s with the crappy gemfans and were very impressed with the handling.

1806s with hq5x4s on a high discharge 4s 1300 is the 'recommended' set-up, with racing in mind (just enough flight time to finish a race, without extra added weight).

That said... I have a stack of cobras waiting for when mine arrives lol. Obviously the above 'recommended' set up is minimalist and would be running without the weight of an HD cam recording or a larger capacity batt.

The motors mine came with are stock T-Motors. They have 4 mm prop mounts. According to Immersion, this will change for future shipments.

Luckily, I have a set of unused Dragonfly 1806s, and the removable prop mounts have a compatible bolt pattern. I installed the 5 mm prop mounts from those.

So now I don't need the Gemfans or the stock prop nuts.

Here's what it looks like with a set of HQ 5x4 props installed.

My Vortex prototype, Boris' and Ummagawd's all have Cobra 2204 1969kv's on them and we much prefer them over the 1806's. I believe there may be a 2204 version with larger ESC's coming out at some stage but cannot confirm that.

I am yet to use an 1806 that I am happy with for 250 sized quad...

I actually have a spare set of Cobra 2204 1960KVs ready to go if I want to switch to them. I figure I'll run the 1806s for a while to test them out first though.

Glad you had those spare prop adapters... I'm hoping mine shows up with the M5 version (already have matchy matchy locknuts)

I'm using the FrSky D4R-II receiver.

I took off the case and put some heat shrink on it. I also put heat shrink over the unused pins.

I attached it to the quad with the antennas pointing down. I don't know if this is a good idea or not.

The weight without a camera or battery is 372 g.

With a GoPro HERO4 Black and a Lumenier 4S 1300 mAh 60C, the all up weight is 620 g.

And a Lumenier 1800 mAh 75C will make the AUW 697 g.

I'm curious....how does changing the VTX frequency through the OSD work. Don't you loose OSD as soon as you change the frequency?

I love using OSD's for changing settings...just seems like that particular setting may not be the best to have to make through OSD. Kind of like switching between NTSC and PAL if it's not setup right the you can't get an image to change it to the other one :D What if you change your VTX to a frequency you don't have an RX for? Can you plug your monitor/goggles right into the OSD before the VTX?

When you change the channel through the OSD settings menu, the changes are applied after you exit the settings menu completely, not when you apply the change to the channel.

There is a button on the quad to cycle through the bands. I believe this will go to channel 1 on each band. There is also a stick command to reset the channel. I think that means reset to the default channel, but I haven't tried it.

The motor to motor distance might be slightly longer than 285 mm, but not by much. My ruler might not be completely flat. I'm going to go with 285 mm.

LMAO!

I've been thinking Blackout but I may still be able to be convinced.

There's just no place to cover the wires with paracord (blingbling) on this thing.
