In Chad's basement

You're on the cutting edge of RC flight David, an RC hero of mine.. along with Trappy... oh, and of course, the cast and crew of Flitetest... and can't forget RCPowers.

So was that a good guess or was there insider knowledge?

It wasn't insider knowledge. Photo of the cockpit which looked almost perfectly like the Scorpion cockpit and dual-rotor setup took all of the guesswork out of it too... So it wasn't really a guess either ;]

Well, then I am too stupid for that :D:D:D

No honestly,

I didn´t see any kind of relation of that belonging to anything. I knew it was cockpit but not more.

I didn't noticed the seats really (maybe it's a little mix of Scorpion with the SA-2 Samson from the same movie)... But I did notice that overall shape of the cockpit is the same.

Welcome back to the US Dave. I really enjoyed your Everglades FPV video, it is truly awesome. Being trapped in Chad's basement sounds like a very good thing to me as I have spent some hours done there myself (usually having Chad repair my crashes). He has all the coolest stuff at your disposal. I have been really occupied with my other hobby right now, hunting, however I am hoping to arrange some time to come out and visit again soon.

Sorry for the lack of updates guys. It's been hard to sneak of to the computer to do updates the last couple of days. Chad is very observant. Anyway here is the latest and greatest

The Navi’s are though on even the model gunships.

img_1286.jpg

Can’t wait to get this thing going.

img_1289.jpg

Hmm flying bug FPV plane? Chad fixing the gunship.

Tubes

Tubes + cutting + soldering = Antenna

img_1363.jpg

A small quad soon done. Gunship done in the background.

img_1369.jpg

Seafury assembly time.

img_1371.jpg

46 minutes later. All done, control surface deflection measured, CG checked, dual rates and expos programmed. Not a difficult build in other words.

I managed to sneak out to the garage where Bixler and Chad were working on a secret project. Chad spotted me just as I took the picture though. Now I only get to eat hotglue sticks for the rest of the week.

img_1375.jpg

The project they are working on is so secret that they have to wait for the cover of darkness to pull it out of the garage in order to paint it.

I'm soldering on. Building on... Arbeit machts frei my fiends.

From the looks of it, the gunship vectoring is done only with the shrouds? I thought you would have to vector the motor & prop as well to make the vectoring work, as seen on other models.

I absolutely love all of the pictures!!

So there do seem to be future episodes coming up about a quadcopter, education episode for antennas and a massive carrier plane and a warbird as well :D

Can´t wait to see them flying.
You guys help me soo much in considering what to do next!

IDK, but it would be better if you vector the whole thing, shroud, motor and prop altogether.

Yeah it would simply because if you only move the prop itself without the shroud the prop might touch the shroud if its big enough.

Also the shroud would be in the way the air is coming from and going out from so you will also end up in a loss of efficiency in thrust wich is not good at all for the controlability of the gunship.

I think the gunship already is hard to control! But still, I can't wait till Monday!

I would say it is not that hard to control for someone who started with flying planes or helicopters and has some experience with Tricopters or Quadcopters. That way you know what you´re excepting in a way.

However I have never flown anything other then my planes. My Tricopter is still in building progress and will be for very long.
So lets watch out for that upcoming episode :D
