Was watching Pixar Planes and it hit me that it'd be cool if the crew each assembled an FPV plane of their choice with limited mods allowed. They then have to fly a few laps around designated flight paths and land with FPV only at different runways where a pit crew can swap batteries and make repairs. Each member gets timed similar to stage rally racing. We can have challenges on the courses such as the net tunnel, hoops, and maybe a low altitude ceiling. Crash assists, mid-race battery swaps, etc. can come with time penalties. Might even be fun to choose a troublesome time of year like the wet and windy days of late October. Could even be a multi episode event or an Edgewater event for fans and family with FPV access. I realize that makes it not very inclusive so it's probably better as an episode idea. I'd totally build an FT Edge 540 or maybe run my FT Twin Otter but I know literally nothing about FPV so I'd definitely have to study up.

My local airfield isn't ideal but if I could find something a little more local that would work I'd love to.

Doesn't FPV also have range limits? Maybe not, the Ukrainian af is doing long range drones some way.

To be honest I have no idea. I know absolutely nothing about FPV other than needing a HAM radio license, and I only knew that cause of Flite Test videos lol

They're using fiber-optics for control, so maybe the vid signal is done the same way. Dunno.

Russians using fiber control on some in known jamming areas. Ukrainians using off the shelf chineseium clones and DIY. They may have fiber available, but too expensive and wasteful for the war they have. The idea of a 50+ mile long spool of optical cable boggles my mind.
