Is this even possible? Making a 10mm Nano EDF unit!

I have been sitting on this for a while.
Quite some time ago, I was asked by Microbuilder if it was even possible to make a 10mm EDF. I got to work and here is the result.

When I was working still, Airenviroment was building horsefly spy drones(?) on a cost plus contract. Sneeze on the table and you spend the next while with bright lights and a reading glass looking for them.

Possible, yes. Cheap enough to afford? I don't think so.

How about foam business card blank stock? Stuff I saw was about .040" thick, plastic both sides.

Or if you have a vacuum table just lying around not doing anything, suck down foamboard to whatever thickness you desire.

If youre OK with the small size, then I say go for it. I built a pizza plate ultra slow stick here a couple years back

Squeezing foam thinner does not save any material weight. In fact doing so tends to make it more flexible for the same weight. Not a good avenue for a light weight structure.
