JB Simple Stik

If I had to guess, it is the rig one can use to keep things square. That is, it is not part of the plane proper.

i wondered that, but usually if there’s something like that on the plans it’ll have a right angle to check 90 degreees, so I wasn’t sure :)

Totally forgot about this.... Was waiting for spins plans but no more I'll just build this!!!!

There's also Hangar's Simple Stick.... but i wanted to build this one cause it can use the FT Floats, which is specifically what I'm lookin for :)

Nice simple build, turned out well. Still waiting on motor/esc and two more servos.
plus obviously I ran out of FT foam, so minwax/paint is needed.

Had to trim the flaps down a touch near the middle of the wing, cause the 3d printed posts I use for the rubber bands would have interfered. :)

"Yup. the motor mount is one from Sponz on thingiverse. The landing gear is a clam shell design also from thingiverse. "

I can't seem to find these files. Could you please increase overall efficiency by posting a link so a bunch of us don't all have to search for it?

I did find that mine needs a very respectable downthrust, to the point that if I were building it again, I would not place the power pod flat on the bottom fuselage, but angle it down before locking it in place with barbecue sticks. I am curious if this is something specific to my build only or others have similar experience?

No power pod on this one...just a firewall glued to the plane. I have one washer behind the upper left mounting screw but I expect to put a lot more downthrust in it to get it to fly well. It makes it a little bit more crashproof on the maiden if the plane goes up under throttle. My bloody baron has about 7 degrees of downthrust.

I maidened and trimmed the JB simple stik over the last few days. I've still got some trimming to do but here's my initial impression. This plane flys great. Its a solid flyer capable of all standard manuevers. I've flow it with a 1500 and 2200 mah battery and both work well. Mine has a 2835 motor from value hobbies with a 10X6 prop. (I'm at high altitude already}. If you're thinking of building the Spitfire and don't have a lot of experience I would start with this plane. It's not as fast as the Spit and it may be a little bit more stable. BTW, a couple of very experienced flyers thought it was the HobbyKing version by the way it was flying.

@JUSS10 -Thanks for the plans!!

This plane just keeps getting better.

Balance on mine came out between 52-55mm behind the leading edge

Also this plane is way easier to hand launch then the Spitfire.

You know what? I started a storch the other day to have a nice flying stol plane to fly around ( I love landing and taking off), and now I want to build this too!
just have to wait to get more foam

If lots of landings and takeoff is what you are after, maybe spend extra time reinforcing the landing gear setup in this place - it is the same as done in Cub and Scout and as such is not too durable, unless you plan to grease the plane every time on a very smooth landing strip. I did not build Storch myself, but landing gear there looks like it will handle multiple landings on less than perfectly glassy fields better than simplified design this plane is using.
