Jenny XL

Mr Man

Mr SPEED!
How about watching a bunch of the FT Build Videos? Maybe the B-17, Scout XL, and I guess most other XL's?

I might have to but it looks like that is still going to leave me with more questions than answers. I don't like to make assumptions based on building things because every time I have in the past it ended in disaster. What I do best with is clear, concise and relevant built instructions because no two kits are exactly alike in terms of how everything goes together.

A lot of FT build techniques are the same...Once you see how one plane goes together you can start to see how other ones go together...I am at the point I don't really need a build video anymore.

Hi Everyone,

I would like to throw this idea out. Maybe think about scratch building a plane. I believe it can help with the building process of other planes. Start with the tiny trainer. The nice thing is that the plans are free. And you would have a new plane in the end. Just a thought. :giggle:

I think I am just going to give up and put the kit up for sale along with all the electronics I was going to use for it. This is leaving me with more questions than answers and is not a good way to treat someone who is new to building something like this. I was hoping to get some answers rather than being told to watch irrelevant videos or read incomplete documentation. All I am asking for is someone to walk me through the process from the point where I am stuck and to analyze what I have already done to make sure I have the highest chances of success, apparently that is too much to ask at this time.

I don't think any of us had personally built that plane yet...It just came out not too long ago.....We are just giving the best suggestions that we can think of that would have helped us when we started out....If you could provide some pictures that would help a lot! I suggest you keep trying and don't let this beat you!:)

I can provide very high resolution pictures (not sure if the forum software would let me upload them due to the file size and resolution) but the thing that really does not make any sense is where is the battery supposed to go? In the supplemental article I see a former around the front cockpit which blocks the battery tray and that does not make any sense to me. It would keep the battery from sliding around but that is about the only obvious part. The speed controller and receiver are light enough that I could move them around a little should I need to and the servo mounting positions are well documented. Maybe this one really is so new that not many have built it although a key reason why I wanted this one is because I like historic aircraft and the Curtiss Jenny has a lot of significance from training pilots during wartime to entertaining the public after the war.

Yeah, for all FT airplane you Velcro the battery down with the Velcro that comes in the kit.

It should let you load them as long as you don't mind waiting a bit.....If you can't just resize them in Paint.net if on windows or in Gimp if on Linux.
