Ok, so when's Chad going to come on back & comment on our suggestions ?

you have 8 pages of them already :) lol

Unfortunately I won't have the time to respond to each individual post in this thread. However, the input is pleasantly overwhelming!

One thing that we're looking at is doing a high-quality training series entitled "The Principles of Flight". This educational series would consist of 12 episodes covering all the basic elements it takes to achieve flight. We're hoping to get some grant funding or investors to help get it implemented into schools.

"The Principles of Flight" would not take the place of the current shows, it would be in addition to them.

Also we have been contacted already by a number of manufactures and distributors interested in sponsorship.

Thank you guys for all the ideas and suggestions! Keep it up! I am listening... uh, er... reading :)

One very successful way of funding an event here locally is clubs/organisers etc get several sponsors for their events. For particular events they would get multiple sponsors so their participants will get t-shirts with multiple logos printed on them. Actually I'm currently wearing one polo neck with four sponsors' logos on it. The t-shirts can announce specific events - e.g you might organise a video contest of the most "sexy foamy scratch built". Contestants pay entry fee (low) but get to wear sponsored t-shirts in their videos. Grand prize sponsored by your main sponsor. Could be any sponsor really - grand prize featuring sponsor's goodies. Main sponsor get great big logo across your tees.

Non-contesting participants can chose to buy the tees ( I would). If your contests become popular; you might soon have sponsors fighting for top spot.

i work in an industry where companies are forever printing t-shirts for e.g announcing their "1 Year Without Lost Time Incidents Safety Record" with multiple sponsors printed across the tees. Goals applicable to FT can be more frequent than continually organising contests!

FT posters with charts of simple guides on matching ESC-Motor-Props-Lipo etc - with sponsors logo? Posters of various popular servo-data as tested by FT - with sponsors.

Anthony is really trying to build a good company. It's just a huge endeavor, it takes time.

yeah, I guess it would.

I do think it is a shame that there is no go between like your guys that we can have some direct contact with

the HK people themselves. be nice to be able to get some real feedback on what's happening @ Hobby king,

like you have done with flitetest recently :)

RC Logger, TBS, and FPV Manuals have all contacted us. Nothing to report yet. I'd love to hear from some more FPV manufacturers or distributors... especially readymade!

Guys, This team has great chemistry. And anyone who has been around the TV/entertainment business will tell you - it is ALL about chemistry. I don't see any reason why a show like yours could not be morphed into a full 30 minute program and be picked up by a major cable network. If those chuckleheads like Billy the Exterminator, the gang at Hardcore Pawn and Dog the Bounty Hunter can make it on TV, I think you have a legitimate shot at a series. How about a pilot episode (no pun intended) to submit to several of the major cable channels? I have worked with several film crews and media companies over the years and many have decent contacts in the industry. Again, great chemistry with Josh and Josh - and I sorta get the boot-licking sidekick David thing, but you need to capitalize on the synergy between the 2 Joshes.

Hi Chad,

Different direction from the thread so far, more of a production note on this episode. There seems to be a window behind the camera in the garage, and it reflects on your glasses. As you move your head, it's really distracting, to the point I couldn't stop following it and trying to see what it was. Took away from the seriousness of the message (to a point) because of the constant distraction. You might want to try to avoid that angle in the future.

Overall though, great message, excited to see where the new "direction" takes "us", keep up the good work!

We're working on a TV pilot now. Thanks for the input!

Good point... I will not let that happen again :)

Just an idea, what about E-flite as a sponsor? You guys do primarily electric flying and they seem like a great fit!

8.) Finally one for myself in particular. I'm a quadraplegic. Sounds worse than it is. Basically nothing moves from the waist down and more annoyingly, no movement in my fingers either. Any chance you can put both the Josh's (Joshii?) in a wheelchair, bandage their hands up and have them fly something? I'd like to see how I compare :) . Oh..And if you could have Josh Bixler get the aircraft to go behind his head, I'd like to see how an experienced pilot handles that. I didn't handle it well at all :) You're probably thinking I should video it myself and put it on the site? No chance. I'm strictly a behind the scenes person!

Oh that is SUCH a good idea! They should get you on the set next to Josh and have a fly-off! Other than the obvious entertainment value in seeing Josh mess up a plane, it would be a nice uplifting story on how the hobby is accessible to virtually everyone!

Keep it flying!

I hope so as well. Flite Test is to good to drift off into the sunset due to lack of funding. Sponsorship is the best way to have a steady source of funding, I think. Other sources, like users are just not dependable.

Just a few suggestions from the Kaptain.

I love scratch build, ExperimentalAirlines on YouTube and RCgroups is doing some amazing stuff with dollartree foamboard. He would make a great subject in the low cost entry scratch build arena.

Product review? ModelPlaneFoam of Dot com fame (or not), started by several members on RCgroups actually went out and got a manufacturer to make foam sheets the way it should be for scratch building. Much like fan fold, only sold in sheets like Depron, the stuff is excellent, has many favorable features and the price is great, not to mention that they are shipping to Canada at a reasonable price! I think their product deserves an independent review! I know the previous "what foam is out there" episode you guys did was not inclusive of MPF... probably because it was just released on the market.

RCpowers.... nuff said.

Twin engine.... lots of possibilities for education in that area... at least for me.

Glow, gas, 2-stroke, 4-stroke.... Nothing much done in that area by you guys..... maybe it's time to darken the horizon with some carbon dioxide?

Fund raising? I'm easy.... glad to donate, happy to see you sponsored, willing to buy quality gear you review honestly.... HK has sold me several items I would not have bought if I had not seen them reviewed in one of your videos.

That's pretty much it for me... I'm late to the party, but now you have it directly from the Kaptain's keyboard.

Regards

Hi Chad,
There are a couple of quick, easy, low hassle ways to make some extra money. Most of us would love to be able to buy, through an affiliate link, the parts that you folks use in your mods. You took plane "A", threw in esc "B", and motor "C"? It now flies a quadrillion miles per second? Affiliate link a shopping cart in the show notes, and a great many of us will buy them. I want a make your own foamies starter bundle. You don't need to ship it, or source the parts, or any of that. Just give me an exact list or two of parts.
Id also like to see auctions for some of the planes here in the forums. We all understand that they are in gently used condition, and would just like a plane that comes with a photo of the team packing it into a box, you know?
As always, give me the option to donate. I spend five dollars a day on coffee. Five or ten dollars a month is nothing.
