Whoa! That's a big one, Definitely wishing ya luck. Your thread kind of made me look at doing another twin engine, not that big LOL but I decided on the DH-88 Black Magic with a 50 inch wingspan, had to keep it smaller than my P-38 as I can just fit that into my car with some degree of difficulty. Assembling wings tonight , fuse is done
I chose to make it 1/10 scale because past me was lazy, it’s just the wings are gonna have 2 forming spars, and one giant reinforced spar that will span most of the wing, but will only be connected to the bottom skin

Sounds like the right way to go. What are you using for spar material? Are you doing retracts?

No budget for retracts, gear will be added later. The spar will be foam with carbon strip reinforced rear spar (will be neater, picture is just for my reference)
The box spar might end up with a wood reinforcement

I think i will rework the wing so it has less lift but more strength for obvious reasons

I’m going to trim it down a slight bit and give it the aileron and flap details later. This was just a test fitting to see how they fit together. And should I use bigger than 9g servos anywhere? This is a 2.2m wing span, and the plane with probably be close the 1.6 m long

If I was going to do flying boats I would do a uhhh, can’t think of it but not the Catalina but one of its bigger brethren
Very late but I believe you're thinking of the PB2Y-Coronado. Just a fatter, four engine Catalina. Makes me think of a flying boat-ified B-24

No, but that is really cool, didn’t know that existed. I knew the pb4y bucaneer was a thing, but that wasn’t floaty enough. I was thinking of the pbm 2,3,or 4, those were twin engine. But I guess this is the biggest of the pby’s!

Next problem, how do I attach the wing, and be able to detach the wing for transport..?
The center strip of foam is about how big the fuselage is gonna be (~10cm). And it’s gonna maybe in the future be able to support gear, so it needs to be able to hold that without damaging the wing too much. Any suggestions? I thought maybe to do some sort of Velcro strap thing around a small pole that’s some how permanent attached to the fuselage.
