Knife edges not so bad but rolling circles no way no how.
Actually, if you sit down and evaluate what your controls and throttle need to do at each quadrant of a rolling circle, it becomes a lot easier to try on a simulator and then a plane.

As I do a right roll, the elevator should be going >>>>>>, the rudder<<<<, ailerons>>>>>, throttle>>>>>>, and as I pass 90 degrees I must do elevator>>>>, etc. etc. etc.

You soon realize the aileron moves very little and the throttle , but the elevator and rudder changes to opposite directions. So, what left is you timing.

Flying a knife edge in a gusty wind coming from the underside of plane at an angle.
Can you explain from high point dropping to low and then holding altitude of what you would do. First try, bailed, 2nd got further and 3rd did a short distance and quit due to gusts. No use trashing a plane. Another day of flying.


In calm conditions, once you lock in, much easier.

Hint: down thrust is your friend low inverted.

Yeah being so low you can't pull more down tends to be fatal to foam. Be happy it wasnt a T tail or a glider.
Or a higher AFT CG. I find that my ultimate 3d wants to go up whether inverted or not, due to the very high AFT CG.

Ummm: premade solves whatever issues the designer had and wanted fixed, melded into a generic solution. Your demands Will probably be different.

Unsure how moving the CG aft causes a nose up moment inverted. Will tend to make most airfoils twitchy by being sensitigve to positive AOA differential but the rotation is typically nose up on a semi-symmetrical profile. No data flatbottomed. (Or nose down inverted) However my caveat is that I havent scraped the horizontal stabilizer and sucessfully recovered more than a couple times in a long life of flying while stoopid. The twin bronco I have flies so tail low inverted that it isn't possible to easily fly that low without taking out the t tail then the power pods.

Depends who has made it and what they know. When 3D was invented around 2005, a 3D designer gave a good suggestion to follow how to pick a well designed plan.

1) Fly a knife edge and see how much reaction(how much elevator and aileron) you need to correct for a good straight level flight. Then do it in the other direction. Most pilots start off going from right to left and have trouble from left to right. If a lot if input is needed, the plane is poorly designed.
2) Be able to fly inverted. But the pilot needs to be able to fly figure 8's, if not, don't see you doing inverted harriers in a figure eight. Rudder control needs to be precise and if not, you will pay for it.
3) If the plane is overweight and not designed right, the proper motor/pitch combo will not be found. If you have the right combo of everything, flying 3D becomes easy-peasy.

That's why you do your homework of watching videos of other flyers( not the pro) doing the flying to see if it is good model.

I have several of the Value Hobby 32 inch EPP planes the best for wind is the G 202 I have flown it in 30 MPH winds. These are my go too practice learn something new planes, these are not as good as the original because of costs they changed the depron to keep costs down and unpainted, the originals were prepainted and $25. For what they are they do fly well and very light so any ground contact is not that big of a deal.

All I am trying to tell you that there are a lot of junk out there that they sell that really are not worth it. Best is to find someone who has been doing it for awhile and use them as a reference. @Bricks is a good source.

FYI, we used FFF foam to do 3D and I modified it( like the SR-71, and A-10 for EDF's) and my son being a JEDI Master's pilot, can make that plane do rolling circles 6" from the ground and will hover with very little effort. Me, not so close to the ground, I prefer 10 ft.
By the way, at age 10 years old at the Nat's, he flew 10 lap pylon races at 200mph. When we flew, there were no throttles, so you either had engine on full and raced or went upstairs and shut it off and you had one chance to land. We competed for 3 years and he never had a crash. Won most of the competitions. Best I could do is second.
