Kamikaze pilot?

Hi guys. I have been flying for about a year and have just started to warm up to flying in circles and making smooth turns, etc. Just a little while ago I noticed I was getting a little overconfident, like I would pitch down and barely have enough room to go back up, or I would try to do something cool, but mess it up badly. Does that seem like a case of kamikaze pilot syndrome, or just brief overconfidence? If its the first option, how can I stop? Thanks!!!

I think it's just you don't quite have enough practice to do the move you are trying to do yet, but just keep practicing and that will go away!

You’re pushing the limits of your comfort zone. Sometimes you will scare yourself and save it, other times you will get to experience repairing an airplane. Worst case, you build another one.

That’s the game we play and it’s a heck of a ride.
Yeah, I think I used to do the same thing as him... Practice worked!!

What does 3 mistakes high mean?
Flying three mistakes high just means you should fly at an altitude where if you made three mistakes in a row (like if you stalled three times or something) you could still recover the airplane before it hit the ground. I didn't really follow that saying as I was learning to fly, since fixing a foam board plane isn't very costly, but I definitely had my fair share of crashes along the way!

It depends a bit on your skill level and what you're doing how much altitude you actually need to recover from a mistake, so three mistakes high for me after eight years in the hobby is a lot lower than when I started out. I'm not very confident with inverted flying though, so when I'm doing that I give myself more altitude to recover from a mistake, because that mistake will probably be more significant.

At 2:30 in the video (4:25 on the OSD) I flip INAV to Autotune, at which point I lost all control other than throttle. It would not flip back to manual mode and was stuck in a slow death roll to the right.....
Any idea what caused it? Remedy?
