Keep your hands away from props, kids

Cast things like your molded prop have density differences. Kinda a "bonus" from making cheap props fast. When you spin an off balance thing really fast, the off balance part gets heavier (technically) and starts to shake things. Shaking your electronics is a classic way to kill your electronics right now by mechanical fatigue. Having such a failure, if it doesn't let the magic smoke out and cause an inflight fire, generally causes your plane to explosive disassemble on ground impact which tends to make you unhappy.

Balance prop: be happy. Don't need a prop balancer purchase, you can build one with a needle and a something to stand the needle.

Hint: the heavy side tends to be on the bottom

Why would a person buy a prop balancer? I never used one. What's the purpose?
A prop balancer is great to balance props to get rid of vibration and even better to balance a prop spinner combo. I've only had one spinner that was even close to balanced.

I wonder if it would make a bigger deal to balance your props with a faster spinning motor.

Yes, definitely. But I like to run Apc props, which are pretty well balanced.
I like the Gramfan 9x6 for my bigger planes....
Because they are cheap and are the strongest props I have found so far! Strength makes a big role when choose your props when you just start flying and break a lot of props 😬😲😮

I like apc props if they’re 6in or less, (unless it’s a 12x6). But for my swappable’s, I run Amazon 10x4.5’s.

If you're up into the big props of +12" you're going to be stuck using gasser props. Those I have never seen balanced well in plastic. Master airscrew were balanced, but afaik those aren't available any more

Balance is balance, either 0 rpm or a gadzillion. High rpm will cause more, rapid shaking therefore showing even a tiny imbalance. After I balance, I put the prop and balancer on top of my phone set to vibrate to see if it is actually well balanced

I use 12x6 props on the original timber, they seem very balanced from the factory.

You guys think this would work? it's a tithe of the price of the one in the video.

It doesn't give the max prop diameter but in the picture it looks small.

I have a prop balancer, but have found with the props I run, there isn't much need for much balancing "unless" there is physical damage to them. At which point, it's best to replace them anyway. That said, I have some wooden props that I haven't used, that plausibly could use balancing should I ever get the correct motor adapters for them.....

L Edge said especially is you are looking for extra speed and that's what I am doing right now with my Mighty Mini's.

The little one works on all 2 bladed ones with the prop horizontal. More than 2 blades needs a taller stand or some method to clear the tips. 3 blades are tough because very small divergences on the heavy blade affects the relationship of the other two. So: teensie itty bitty changes on a 3 blade. You won't need much if any at all. Don't forget to add vibrations by tapping the stand to add a settling factor.
