Kinetic 800

I picked up one of these after watching this review when it was first published :)

It's still my first plane up when I hit the field on the weekend. Climb and then high speed dives! Love it!

Just Picked up a Kinetic 800 and I am excited to fly it in a few weeks when it arrives. I went with the 800mAh 3S 20C Lipo Pack.

I got my Kinetic 800 PNP in this week. After the set-up, the throttle is not actuating, and there is something wrong with the rudder servo as it does not travel its full range of motion. Anyone else experiencing these issues?

My son learned to fly on this model and its great in so many ways. It can handle the wind, fly for up to 30 min on the recommended battery. I would hate to imagine how many hours of flight time its hand but every time we've gone flying his Kinetics is the first model up. Thanks FliteTest and Hobby King.

BTW: You know what's strange, I don't understand why the Bixler is cheaper than the Kinetics

None of the surfaces move much. As long as it is the same amount in both directions then it will be fine. I don't suppose that you will do using much rudder anyway because of the ails

A friend of mine got this plane and broke the prop on the first flight. Why? Reversed ailerons. I had to laugh at him.

I nearly broke my son's Kinetics because I had the Radio set to the wrong model and the same thing happened. It began to lean to the left so I applied right and it almost went over completely. I was lucky I worked it out and managed to get it down . . . my son would have killed me.

What is this plane like compared to the Bixler.
I am thinking off buying a new trainer (my hz super cub is held together with tape and zip ties) and shipping the bixler to Australia (none in nsw warehouse) cost about the same as the kinetic from nsw.
I have never used alirons so the plane also needs to be a good aliron trainer.
I have also bought some FPV gear and I would like to know which modle would handle it (and could I run both on the same 1300mah 3s 20c battery)? This is only a secondary consern as I can still fly the cub.

Thanks in advance

I never fly it but on my opinion the plane will be a very good plane as a next step.
The good thing about it is that the Kinetic can fly really nicely and slow and has very nice gliding properties etc. but it can go fast as well so it is completely up to you how you want to fly this little beaty.

The Bixler is much more of a beginner plane or a relaxing plane (my opinion) and is very good to get the basics of flying. However if you´re not really looking for FPV or only relaxed flying then I think it will get boring after a while and you want to push your self a little more over the capabilites of the Bixler.

Now it is your opinion to choose and the correctly judge yourself about your abilites and experience whether that will be enough to control the Kinetic(I think it is quite easy if not easier to fly then many other planes) or if you want to slow down and go the safe way and just get a Bixler

Hope I could help you with this! :)

The kinetic 800 can be very fast and agile with and 3 cell battery. If you have had flying at least some flying experience I don't think that it should be to difficult for you. If I was you I would try to start with a 2 cell battery if you get the kinetic. One reason that you might consider to get the bixler is that it doesn't get affected by wind as badly as the kinetic. you can probably fly it with the 1300 battery but the kinetic would be a missile and there are no guaranties that it would even fit. If you want fpv I would personally buy the bixler. BTW make sure you use some dual rates with the kinetic otherwise it is very sensitive on roll and pitch.

From what I´ve heard about the Kinetic a 2S 500mAh is perfectly fine for the plane. Just make sure that you look in our forum or the manual if there is one, where abouts the CG would be.

The Joshes tried the Kinetic out with the 2S and in my opinion a 3S is pretty much useless because the plane is then too much of a hotliner for the start. If you get better you can go up to 3S but I also heared that 3S might be too much and the ESC would fry.
I would try out the components outside the fuselage with a 3S lipo because heat and foam don´t go well together.

I don't have this plane. But I started as a beginner 3 months ago. And I would definitely not advise it for a beginner. What I could see on the video is that it's fast and small and as a beginner you are always to slow to react and if you react you too hard or too soft. For total beginners its Bixler, Clouds Fly.... You want something big that you can easily spot (you will need a big open place anyway), one that is slow (thick wings) and preferably stabilises itself (V-Wings).
But if you have a buddy who can fly and can do a trainer link with you it should be okay. The plane is already on the way to me so I can advance myself. But I have no big problems with flying the Floater inverted and I get better every week at landing on the spot I want to land on. Thought I would get it today but life sucks.

Never catch a multirotor
The Kinetic 800 is great !
I always bring it with me.

Very light for gliding (2cell) but handles good in light windy conditions as well.
Good to see that HK decided to carry the full spare parts, I have 2 full foam sets now as spare.

Upgraded the motor to a BC1712-13 2000kv with a fixed Graupner CAM Speed 6x6 prop.
Flies like a bat our of hell on a 3cell.

Turnigy Nano Tech 3cell 850mah 25-40C fit like a glove with spot-on CG.
The 2cell version needs to be moved somewhat in the nose.

It can be a good (and inexpensive) trainer when flown on a 2cell with a buddy box.

Kinetic 800 Rudder Servo

Any updates? I think the rudder servo may be malfunctioning. It doesn't travel its full range of motion. Anyone know of a good replacement or troubleshooting technique?

Make sure your throttle is trimmed down. I had to move mine down to get the esc to arm. The servos that come with the pnp aren't that great but seem to be sufficient. I had to use the end point adjustment on my Tx to get travel sorted out.
