Landing the Old Fogey/Stalling the Old Fogey

A year and a half into this hobby and I am still not landing without effort.

Most of the time my gear folds back because I hit so hard.

I have just found out when I am landing throttle should control altitude and elevator should control speed. With this there are some things about figuring out when a aircraft is going to stall.

It seems that the Old fogey will fly with so little power I can't seem to get it down without a very long approach. Trying to find the stall on this thing is also tough because I never seem to get it to act the same way twice.

This video has helped https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IS2asjjrFak but I am still having some issues using the throttle to get down.

Any comments, links, videos of specifically stalling and/or landing the old fogey would be great.

Don't land. Fly lower and lower till the ground is holding you up and rolling under your wheels. Then cut power.

Folding up the wheels is not a bad thing. If you can fly again without repairing, you are doing good.

How much space do you have? Find a place big enough and then ...you need 4 times that space. Then against the wind just reduce speed to make the old fogey slowly fall. At the same time use elevator slowly to put the plane horizontal during all the proccess. If the plane falls too fast increase speed a little bit. If doesnt fall reduce speed a little bit. When you are just about to hit the ground just cut throttle and push elevator back a little bit. That will make the old fogey just fall and land.

use all the space you need. Dont worry where you land, just learn to control that proccess.

Thanks TEAJR66... I flew 4 batteries worth of practice. Flying lower and lower to the ground was a good tip. with that and using other tips I had one super nice landing where I was able to touch the wheels to the ground, kill the power then flare and came to a nice rolling stop. More practice is needed, but your tip helped a lot.

On the way in from my practice I was thinking I really need to go to the local high school where there are less obstacles and more space.
