Solved Large ESC Question

I have two 80 amp ESC's for a big build I'm doing, and I'm wondering what the ring with part of the receiver wire wrapped around is.

I've seen it on other ESC's, but only ones bigger than 40 amps.

Thanks

Wake up! Time to fly!
Those are ferrite rings used to make inductors. They are used on signal wires to absorb spikes injected into them from high power motors or any other radiated signals.

The reason ferrite rings only appear on bigger ESCs (apart from cost!) is that the high currents flowing through the motor wires increases the likelihood of spike voltages being generated in signal wires.
