Hi all 1st post.
I'm lazy and i crash alot. Looking for a partner who can laser out 2-3 copies of 4-5 planes so I can keep my shelf stocked with kits as they get busted up. does anyone offer this service? I guess shipping would be the biggest draw back thats why i'd want to get a bunch done at one time. jdog

If you're just starting then making templates from poster board is THE way to go. That way you can easily make the replacement parts. Once you're totally hooked on foam board building then make an ERC TimSav and get a 3D printer - now you will have no limits!

That’s somewhat how I do it, I just tape the paper templates onto the dtfb, and cut. You don’t get spare templates, but I never do. (It’s either in one piece, or it’s unrecognizable.)🤪

Once I realized how much I enjoy building with FB I started printing the plans, taping them together, cutting out about an inch bigger around the part outlines, then using 3M super 77 to glue them to poster board. It's much quicker to cut the poster board than it is to cut FB so it's not really doubling your cut time.
But now you can just slap a part template on the FB and trace it out. I've still got over 10 folders of plans that I still use.

I am with you in building multiple copies of the same plane. With the beginning of building season (winter), I'm beginning to build a bunch of planes. I make about 5 copies each of my favorite planes. I stack up foam board & cut all copies at the same time using a band saw or a jig saw depending on the cut. I get 5 planes for the time it take to cut one. With my method, I don't bother with the alinement tabs. They are more trouble than they are worth.
