All cutting out done, all foam removals done. That's enough for this evening.
Tomorrow, it's hot glue time!!!

Designed and 3d printed a nose wheel steering doohickey, removed all the paper from the inside bits where required and also modified the canard to have a bit more of an airfoil.
Some testing of the nose steering tomorrow before committing to putting it on the plane.

Sounds interesting, got pictures?

Ok ok!! I still haven't put any pictures up.
Found that the 3D printed parts didn't work, redesigned them this evening and printed again. Nearly right.... tomorrow will probably be the charm :)

Working on making a steerable nosewheel 3D print.
1st attempt, not even that close, the centre part I made six sided to try and key into the cover it barely did.

2nd attempt, much better - forgot to print with supports for the overhang - duh! but it nearly worked.

Happy enough with this 3D printed steering bit. Next to add a servo and attach to a base plate of light-ply.
The bits...

Bend the top of the 2mm nose wheel wire 90 degrees - the slot in the control arm is 15mm long. Fit into the control arm.

Thread through the inner part. At this point fix the the base plate using the three screw holes

Then the cover is fitted over to secure - its a tight fit so maybe gluing is not required .

Just about ready to fit the nosewheel steering. Had to construct an angled platform to account for the sloping of the nose underside. Also had to lower the steering unit so it will fit under the canard.
