Just adding a bit of scale detailing now as it it technically ready to test fly, balances good on a 3000mah 3s, weight is 2lbs 2oz at the moment with the pack in it. I have made the exhausts and the tropical air filter, got the top cowling guns and wing fillets to make tonight. That will be it, just the painting to do which is one of my favourite parts, going for a tropical type scale scheme, got the paints so just got to wait for a nice day to spray it outside. I won`t be test flying it till i have it all painted and the decals applied as i want to get some nice pictures of it first.............just in case!
I'm really glad you posted on FB, and then linked to the download, and then put everything on this thread.
I have downloaded the plans, thanks for all the work @Whit Armstrong has done. Thanks for all the followup @CrshNBrn has done.
Please, please post your completed project? I see some huge opportunities to 3D print a few of the pieces, but I will wait to see what you come up with on "final". ;) Sick Planes @CrshNBrn & @Kartman24

Build one Eric, fun build, looks great when assembled, cost of all the foam to build it was under £10 and that also includes the brown paper i covered the fuselage in.

Yes, I printed out the plans today… oh, that was not cheap! Staples, 6 pages, $20.

I have the flight-test brand, brown covered foam, so I hope that works.

Good luck! Its a fun build. In the future if you want to save some $$$ and have Adobe Acrobat, you can always print the plans directly using the Poster option. I'm able to print mine on larger 11X17 paper (to save cutting and alignment), but you could use regular 8.5x11 size if you didn't want to pay Staples for the full size plans. Save your money for some cool graphics from Callie or something else.

Finally got a window to paint the 109, the underside was sprayed today, the top side will get done tomorrow but i have a small issue which i could do with some advice on rectifying. Both elevators have started drooping on the outer end, what is the best way of rectifying, heat?

I wonder if the paint on the bottom side only is causing that slight warping. I wouldn't do anything until you've got the topside painted as well- perhaps it will pull it back up slightly.

Even then, I don't know if heat would be helpful this issue. Maybe a long bbq skewer mounted on the underside to hold it up in place? Maybe a little adjustment with your servo to close that droop? Maybe it won't affect your flight characteristics and just be a cosmetic issue?

Servo adjustment won`t do the job as it would mean a lot of down elevator to rectify the ends, will see where we go after the top paint but i think there was some droop on the ends before the lower side was painted.

Painted and ready to test fly except i don`t know where the Cof G should be, i usually work on 1/3 of the wing chord if i`m not sure, how far back from the L/E does yours balance CrshNBrn? Will post some pictures of the finished plane tomorrow.

Mine balances at roughly the front wooden spar. 3000 4s battery in the nose (with not much room left over) seems to do the trick.

Wooden spar? Mine has two foam folded spars, no wood in the wing. I didn't see any wood mentioned on the plan.

I thought there was a wooden spar in the wing. Anyway, I figured the CG was around the front foam spar. It's a beautiful plane you've built. Love the paint job.

Thanks, certainly shows what you can do with a flat foam board, looking forward to my next project, a scratch built scale inter war bipe on floats.
Will do a build thread once i get into it.

There was a couple of wooden spars in the wing. Mine died a noble death today in combat with a Corsair, so I got a chance to share the picture of them.

************ Nuts, i guess i should have thought to put them in but i built it as per the plan, it was my first foamboard build having not done a Flitetest model etc. Now i am worried that the wings might fold as i pull out of a loop, test flight was due tomorrow as the weather forecast looks ideal so that will have to wait. Only way into it now is through the bottom of the wing with a craft knife, i will run a straight edge between the spar locating tabs and make a coupe of 1/6" ply braces. How far out from the centre of the wing did you take yours?
Sorry to hear yours has bitten the dust, hope you build another.

building mine off of my own design (same size and similar build to wils) I was not planning on it being a permanent build and never added to wood spar. While I don't fly it crazy hard and haven't had a serious crash with it the wing has held up just fine for many flights over the past 2 years (wow can't believe it's been that long! )

What's the worst that could happen? A very exciting flight with a folding wing. You may get lucky like Bwarz and go for years without an incident.

Opted to go for it as it is and just keep the speed down pulling out of loops, got the maiden flight done today as the sun was going down, only 3 clicks of right aileron needed, superb flier and very smooth whilst landing nice and slow, congratulations on a great job designing the model Whit. Has given me a lot of confidence to scratch build using foam board, the guy that launched it was amazed how well it went.

That rocks, Kartman. Congratulations! May you get hooked on foamboard construction like so many of us on this forum- just be sure to show off your awesome builds here.
