You can do this! it's simple and fascinating: a micro plane with an all metal wing.

Metal (Aluminium) is:

  • Recyclable
  • Stiff
  • Waterproof
  • Easy to paint
  • Inexpensive
  • Readily available
Here is the inspiration.

For a larger plane, there is this:

The first one is not so difficult, in fact, I have constructed a flying delta out of aluminium sheet and hope to attache a twin motor system to it.
At 14g in weight the FT sponsored C-17 components could easily fly it. The C-17 electronics weighs 22g and this gives a flying weight of 36g which will easily fly with the C-17 parts, and I have tested this with a card model.

Could deburr edges with some 120 grit sanding perpindicular to the edge. Burrs are caused by the clearences between the cutting edge of your scissors or shears. (Which you gotta have). Dead soft burrs the worst because it stretches while you cut it. Plus side: unless you are spending money for your aluminum, it will be either work hardened or age hardened (not that it matters in this case).
