Mexican Viggen

AFter succesfully flying my FT-22, I asked my instructor if I was ready for EDF, and he said yes. I asked if the Viggen was a good idea, and he also said yes. On this thread, I will write about me saving up for it (I want to make it my best project yet), building it, painting it (it is gonna be a Mexican Air Force idea I got, because the Viggen is a perfect jet for Mexico) and at the end flying it. Wish me Luck!

Yeah EDF isn't that hard...I just flew my first one the other day and was surprised at how easy it was....Caution: It might be FAST!

The Viggen is a good first EDF jet. It flies pretty slow and has gentle tendencies. You'll learn that EDFs take longer to develop power than a prop plane. Also, prop planes generate their own relative wind against the control surfaces and can give you control response at low speeds. EDF jets don't (normally) have control surfaces in the air stream and must be moving through the air to be responsive. This can be problematic at low speeds.

In general, be careful with EDFs at lower speeds. The Viggen is a good beginner EDF. Practice, practice, practice before moving onto a scale jet model.

Yes that is something to be careful of...But as I like ti fly fast it didn't really effect me.... :ROFLMAO:

An update, a friend sold me an X-Fly T-7A 64mm for $5. The few resorces I had went to it, and I just couldn't miss the opportunity. I dunno how good the T-7A, but if I wreck it, I know what to do with the electronics ;). And just wondering, can it fly on 3s? I guess yes because the viggen is 70mm and works on 3s, so I assume that for a smaller EDF, but I am not very experienced.

Mine uses 4s and I think some 64mm ones use 6s.....

Hanging from hand or holding it up? It doesn't push aggressively when hanging it from my hand, but it does push quite strongly
holding it up was what i was saying but it might be a heavier jet than mine.....Really if it doesn't have enough power it won't fly...I guess that's one way to find out! lol
