Mid-Wing Cub Style Design

Hi,

I'm planning on converting my cub style trainer to a mid wing.
I will use the same fuselage and move the wing to around midpoint of fuselage.
I will however use a different wing style. I'm thinking about using a KFM3 wing foil.
debating if I should taper the tail edge of the wing or not.

Check out what it will look like so far.
Still gathering parts and will begin construction this month.

any thoughts or suggestions?

Be an interesting build looks good. I keep thinking about putting a high/top wing on the 540edge sort of like a high performance bush plane/ tundra

Here is my progress so far.

Specs
Wingspan = 30" Kfm3 wing w/ 2" dih.
Fuse = 21.5"
motor = unknown
Transmitter = Flysky Fs-i6

construction is Dollarama Foamboard.
its is a concept of a Cub style trainer with a mid wing design.

let me know your thoughts and comments, any improvements, I'm open as I also have some design improvements for v2.

thanks

Loco

great wing to build. but I didnt intend to put ailerons on but now I do. so now I have to figure out how to install one without building a new wing. either way it turned out great !

test fitting the wing, why is it always you try one side of wing and give you trouble for 5 mins...then hou try the other way other side and its smooth like butter!

Decided I wanted to redesign the tail today. specifically the rudder.

I was concerned I didnt have enough surface area so I enlarged it by roughly 1.5inches wider. with a curve. I feel more comfortable now with it.

I borrowed the profile from my Simple Scout template.

Looks really good, how about releasng build plans :)?

Hi Mayan!

First off, have to say I love your Tiny Trainer turned Warbird. Great mod!

I'm planning to release the plans just when I finish and it flys lol. But if you want I can send them as is. I do have to make some adjustments as I made some as I was building it. Give me a week and I will post the plans I have so far as version 1. Still thinking of a name for it.

Thanks. I’ll be waiting for a final version as I told Hai-Lee I have to fly and crash something so I have more room for something new. I want to build the das ugly stick too.

I put the servos in today., well after considering I only bought 7 inch push rods I had to out push rods in the rear tail.
hoping it wont end up tail heavy.

i really like these snap on servos horns

I also heard of someone using popsicle sticks as a firewall...so I laminated a firewall together...hope it works lol

Don't forget to put the screws in you servo arms, also, I would suggest something a little stronger for the firewall, I would suggest eighth inch ply.

yes good call I will put the screws in and reinforce the other side.

regarding firewall good idea.

I did however double layer popsicles sticks I alternate direction making a ply. you dont think this will work?

You can try, but it probably won’t last as long as ply, what type of glue did you use to laminate it? Good luck, looking good.

It might work and I’m not going to tell you not to use it, I’m only saying it won’t last as long (firewalls break pretty often in a hard crash anyways though, so it might actually work just as well). Nothing in this hobby is set in stone, so try it and let us know how it goes ;).
